Here's how things will shape up in DII-A if the favorites take care of business in Weeks 9 and 10. Top team hosts. The first number represents district seed; the second is the district itself.

Some observations:

 

The Fayette Academy - Jackson Christian winner will get a playoff berth and the loser will be done. Same with the SBEC - FACS game. Three of the projected top seeds simply have to beat the last-place teams in their divisions to clinch division titles -- Webb plays Davidson Academy, FRA plays Mt. Juliet Christian and ECS plays Bishop Byrne. USJ has already clinched its division title and a first-round bye.

 

While no first-round teams besides St. George's will be favorites to contend for a title, the semifinals could get really interesting -- Webb, St. George's, ECS and USJ all have championship hopes.

fayette academy will beat jcs and sbec will beat facs. fayette academy has a kid you cant catch and sbec has a very smart coach.

Agreed on the above. But that can be said about any of the other three. They are all formidable opponents.

With a win Friday night against Zion my cats will finally break 500. Any thoughts on how long we will last in the playoffs. I do not know alot about the teams from the Memphis area.

Replying to DC nation post: don't know what it means but Memphis area team SBEC beat Davidson Academy earlier this year by 20 and SG beat FRA. thats the only 2 cross state games within division i see this year.

ECS player was a transfer that did not play football at his previous school. It was recently discovered that he played JV basketball in the first semester of previous year. ECS immediately self-reported. The parents (like most others) thought that it only mattered if you played the same sport. He played a few plays in the FACS game and no others. Unfortunate and innocent but I appreciate the leadership for acting with integrity. Could have easily been swept under the rug.

Strange season for ECS -- six losses now with two by one point, two by a TD or less, one forfeit, and one called at the half because of the weather. They're very talented though, and it wouldn't be surprising at all to see them make a run in the playoffs. The West is wide open with USJ, St. George's, Fayette Academy, ECS, and Harding all being capable teams.

Wow, that's a tough one to swallow. Kudos to the AD and administration for acting as they did.
