I hate to burst your bubble and what you've been told, but almost all the seniors and every senior that starts played together on the 5th/6th grade football team. What a recruiting job that must have been

Give me a break.

I know you didnt start it, but lets not get into this; we all have somewhat of an idea how this stuff works, Good luck to both teams and it should be a great game.....

Howdy I know CPA is as good as they come. I realize they got best coaches( supposedly) they have pick of best kids, they have destroyed everyone. But... CC can win this game, and anyone who bets against the cubs better use caution! Last year CPA was great, they beat us no doubt, but had couple plays went other ways we may have won that game! This years team is just got something Joey that you don't always see. I'm so happy to be apart of it. Hopefully they can keep going to state! Go cubs!!!!

The most amazing thing is how CPA picked out these star atheletes in kindergarten. Now that is quite a feat! Granted the Smith kid didn't start CPA until 3 rd grade. I don't know how they waited so long to sign him.

These boys have been taught to respect other teams both on and off the field. Character, Humble and Humility are just a few aspects of these young men. They've also been brought up since peewee to talk with your pads on the field and that's what they do. I've coached most of these seniors since they were 6-7-8 or coached against them. There is a bond with these young men that runs deep. Only those in the brotherhood of warriors can understand. They would give "all" for one another without hesitation. We here at Cheatham have a GREAT respect for the CPA program. They are an elite football team. We will give you and your fans a warm welcome into the Den. Come and visit with us when you guys get to the Den next Friday night. Share a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. We are a respectable crowd, but we also love our CUBS! I'd like to extend the invitation out to all area high schools that are looking for a GREAT game.

Rise up CUBNATION!!! GO CUBS!!!

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
