Hey OaklandPatriots if we work out a game you could bring Lost OLD Dad to Oak Ridge with you. Wouldn't that be something. LOD is a friend from CoachT and a couple games between our teams. He likes ribs and so does Joe Gaddis if I remember correctly.

ROLL WILDCATS ROLL

That works for me. I hear Oak Ridge is a enviroment second to none and there is never a bad time to have some ribs. Hope Gaddis and McDaniel can make it happen in the future.

SS, this is a little off topic here, but I have to tell you. I was at the McMinn Co. vs West scrimmage on Friday night at McMinn. You will never guess what happened. Can you guess? Yep, you got it, BRAWL! A member of the West 2nd offense was carrying the ball on a sweep against the McMinn #1 defense (go figure). The sweep ended up on the McMinn sideline about 5 yards out of bounds. The McMinn players jumped the West ball carrier holding him down, kicking and hitting him. The kid looked like he had went 15 rounds with Marvin Hagler, bloody eye, bruised and swolen face. Then after the scrimmage the West kids were putting their pads in the equipment trailor when a McMinn player and his parents, yep parents started mouthing off at a West player and tried to start another one. I know you find this type of behavior from McMinn hard to believe, SS.

Hey, it happens at places...Kids wanna play for a coach that is a known winner who brings excitement ala Gaddis...They don't have to recruit, they come on their own accord. Isn't recruiting if that's the case. When you have the name of a Maryville, Alcoa, Or Oak Ridge and with the coaches they have kids wanna be a part of it. Don't hate and call it recruitin'

When the coach eats out with the kid and his family I would call it recruiting. Hard to build anything on a bad foundation.

Yeah, what a shocker. And i heard West manhandled them all game. I hate that we have Mcminn back on our schedule. I hope that lasts just this year only. I hate playing that bunch unless we have to. They are dirty, low class program. I am sure their are some good folks there, but our game down there a few years ago just rubbed me the wrong way. Hope Gaddis gets them off there quickly after this year.

I get it that Blade is not a nice guy. I have also heard that Saban is a bad guy to Coach for. But they both get results. We both played for Gaddis and i am cheering for him. We will see howlade and Gaddis compare. As for Miner we can agree to disagree. I am not even sure how many times that he did resign. If you know him please ask him:)

As we both know, it doesn't matter if a coach is a "nice guy" or not and I don't even know if Blade is nice or not. I think Gaddis is just more "personable" than Blade. That doesn't make him a better coach or even a nicer guy, but he is just more comfortable in a crowd of people.

Yes, we will see about Blade and the Gaddis comparison..So far it isn't even close in terms of how the two have generated excitement amongst the community and the kids in general...Kids that didn't go out for Blade are now going out for Joe and as we have read here from posts by ORNole even kids not from Oak Ridge are wanting to transfer to play for Gaddis. So, in those terms it isn't even close. Now as far as being able to coach and being a gameday coach and being successful remains to be seen. Blade was quiet good at that.

We don't have to "see" about the Blade/Gaddis comparison.....at least most of us don't.

1. Blade has a record 0f 35-15 while he was at Oak Ridge

2. Gaddis has a record of 119-24 while at Oak Ridge

3. Blade went to the semifinals one time while at Oak Ridge

4, Gaddis went to the semifinals four times while at Oak Ridge

5. Blade won zero state championships while at Oak Ridge for four years

6. Gaddis won one state championship while at Oak Ridge...coincidentally, in his fourth year

7. Blade had zero undefeated regular seasons while at Oak Ridge

8. Gaddis had four undefeated regular seasons while at Oak Ridge

9. Blade did not love Oak Ridge

10. Gaddis loves Oak Ridge

11. Blade did not embrace the tradition of Oak Ridge football

12. Gaddis places emphasis on the tradition of Oak Ridge football

And the list could go on and on.

I think Blade was a very good coach and was what we needed at the time he was hired and I also think Gaddis is a very good coach is exactly what we need at this time.

Excellent points. Most will argue, at least some though that Gaddis had much better talent when he was here the first time, which is unquestionably true. How would Gaddis have fared with the talent Blade had the past four years? Who knows? And it's pretty much irrelevant anyways.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
