I think it was some of both. Like I said, hopefully they go back to true jv next year.

I was at the mj hendersonville freshman game, Hendersonville fielded 63 freshmen.. HOW?!

when varsity fielded mid 80's?

I seriously doubt that. I was told that this was the largest freshman class they have ever had and that last year was almost as large. That half of their varsity team were sophomores and that the juniors and seniors were the smallest groups they ever had. H'ville has a true freshman team with a seperate staff from the varsity and their own practice field, etc. I know because my nephew was on the team last year. They had mid fifties last year and upper fifties this year which bolds well for the varsity as far as numbers go. I also heard they are expecting just as many next year.

What Pearl Cohn does is since their sophmores and some juniors are usually ineligible they put them on the 9th grade team.

I saw 3 really good 9th grade teams this year. McCallie, Rhea County, Brentwood Academy

Hendersonville was by far the best Freshmen team we played on Portlands Freshman schedule. Most were not even close to them as far as talent and size. IF they can keep them boys together, Hville will have a very good varsity team in the future.....

Alcoa, Farragut and Cleveland all had good freshman teams. If they stay together, those three teams will doinate in varsity competition for years to come.
