I think that Fulton has a shot at being the state champs this year.We have had some big wins during the season and we are a whole lot better than people give us credit for.We have home field advantage and we will face some tough games in the playoffs and I think we can get to the 'boro.This was the first perfect season we've had since 1974 and that year we got to the championship game.

Here is how I WOULD like to be state champs...

 

1A - Greenback

2A - Sweetwater

3A - Fulton

4A - Maryville

5A - Germantown

 

But I'm not going to predict who WILL win, because high school football is just too unpredictable. The only classification I feel confident in predicting is 4A, and that's because Maryville is my team! The only way Maryville doesn't become state champs is if they shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers and a lack of intensity, or if the injury list gets too long for even their deep depth to overcome.

 

Sweetwater will have a big challenge in trying to get past Goodpasture, but it can be done. I know for a fact that a lot of Maryville's players would love to see Sweetwater in the 2A state game, because former Rebel T.J. Brock is there right now, and he's still very popular with the players in Maryville.

 

Greenback has been impressing me all year long, but I know they have a lot of stiff competition ahead in the 1A playoffs. If not this year, though, there'll always be next year.

 

Fulton is just the only 3A team I care much about, the same goes for 5A's Germantown, which is where I have a lot of friends from in college. I don't like Oak Ridge or Dobyns-Bennett this year, and I have never liked Riverdale. Murfreesboro Oakland I have a few friends from, but I don't know how they are doing this year.
