summerball
Just wondering why the TSSAA moved the starting weight class to 106. Seems to be a lot of 9th & 10th graders that have to wait a year or two to hit that weight. That's a lot of time to be off the mat.
Sommers
What's the minimum they can weigh?? 90 lbs
summerball
not sure. just know 106 is the first weight class in high school. i know it use to be 98 a few years ago. would be nice for those studs coming out of jr high to not have to wait. i think the jr high weights are 76 and up for 7th and 8th graders. 76 to 106 is a big jump for a kid going from 8th to 9th grade. ALman
I don't think there is a minimum. My oldest son weighed low to mid 80's his freshman year and wrestled varsity all year. It was 103 then instead of 106.
BringBack119
I believed they moved it up so mor teams could try and fill that weight class. Too many teams had to forfeit that weight. Plus American obesity lol
cbg
The TSSAA had little if anything to do with the change. The national federation mandates what the weight classifications should be.
summerball
okay. so what do the 9th or 10th graders do that are below the 106 weight class. are their tournaments that they can go to? with lower weight classes?

summerball
Man up. man what up? you going to put a 95-100pounder on a 106pounder who cut from 110-112. get a clue.
baller95
man what up? you going to put a 95-100pounder on a 106pounder who cut from 110-112. get a clue. Only will make them better. There was a 106 placer last year that was a 95 something qualifier as a freshman. You have to take your lumps to get to the top. If you feel the kid can't handle it then that is a parents responsibility.
nooga
Agreed!!!! Man up! It's no difference when a 152 wrestles a 160 and that 160 cut down to make weight and then weighs 163 to
