Jalen Lindsey has committed to Providence

I seen that and had to scratch my head on that one, im not sure I completely understand why he chose The Friars. Does anybody know why he committed to Providence? They haven't exactly been a good team in quite some time, the last time they made the NCAA tournament was 2004 and have only went dancing 15 times all together. This kid could of pretty much committed to just about any school he wanted. I think he is a very good player and a great prospect but just a little bit overrated. He is currently rated a 4 star SF (number 48 overall in nation by rivals) and 4 star SF (number 65 overall by scout). He did not receive any offers from the top programs in the country like Duke, UK, UNC, KU and there is a reason for that. With all that said I still was hoping he would commit to UT but obviously that did not happen. My best guess is he committed to Providence because he will get immediate playing time. Providence is slowly putting together a very solid team. In 2012 they had two 5 star players commit to them in Kris Dunn and Recardo Ledo along with two 3 star players. Their 2013 class has a commit from a 4 star SF and a 3 star PF. If all this talent is still on campus by the time Lindsey gets there they will have a very dangerous team. Like I said I wish UT could of landed him but he's a bit overrated, last season im not even sure he was a top 5 player in the state of TN. At the state championship games last season Robert Hubbs and Darius Thompson were way more impressive to me. I also think along with the two I just mentioned that Leron Black, Chris Chiozza, Nick King, Jujuan Johnson, Austin Nichols, and Makinde London are all better players than Lindsey. Out of all the top players in the state I feel Lindsey is only better than Johnathon Williams and Markel Crawford. All the players I mentioned have committed to top D1 colleges.Jalen needs to get stronger because he played a little soft and needs to work on a more consistent jump shot from outside the paint and stop jacking up so many 3s. • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
