Arlington........ Don't think so until they prove otherwise. They went undefeated last year only to get pounded in the first round by Overton.

 

Arlington also was without their All-State QB for the last half of the season. Imagine Siegel without Stockstill and you got Arlington without Drew Reed

Iron sharpens Iron. What do I mean? It's simple. Programs like MJ, Oakland, Maryville, Dobbyns-Bennett, Whitehaven, White Station and the list goes on, all have one thing in common. They have tried and true PROGRAMS in place. Well ... White Station just hired a new HC and the jury is out on them. But, you understand where I'm going with this. All of these programs excel in player development. You don't win the big-time games without PLAYERS. Well ... how do you get young Johnny Football, who has been the best thing since sliced bread, to conform? He's been the cat's meow ever since he put on pads in little league. Well ... he's got to see that he's NOT the only one with talent and that he's got to earn the right to play, it's not given to anybody. The winning programs all have that in common. MJ will be good because they have proven over time that they have iron to sharpen iron.

ND, Coach Perry is still very much involved in the coaching even though is he no longer the head coach. The Bears are in very good hands with Coach T and Coach Perry over seeing.

The last 2 years it has been : Maryville, Whitehaven, Mt Juliet and some one from district 7 ( Riverdale and Siegel ). Looks like Oakland is the favorite to come out of district 7. I still see these as the top teams entering the season. and fully expect them to be the final four battling for a trip to Cookeville.

I agree with you... Maryville always finds a way to reload. I am a Dobyns-Bennett guy and always will be a Indian first and foremost. I have respect for a lot of football programs around the State. When everyone thinks Maryville is not going to be Maryville, they find a way to get to the Semifinals or State Championship. Never underestimate them.
