GILES VS CPA

....ok lets see here. The "trick play" aforementioned was the perfect call. If we execute one block on the left corner we are off to the races. But, we did not make the block. The punt before half-time? Coach Martin is a class act. Both teams were leaving the field when the zebras "think" CPA wants a time out. There was no return on for CPA. The half was over for both staffs. Just had to pacify the refs.

CPA was in a 3-4. So tell us how you would attack it? You want to throw the ball down field with 6 db's? Or do you establish the run and throw underneath? You can't do either when your getting whipped on the line of scrimmage. You can't do either when you miss assignments. So move over to the defensive side. CPA has a legit SEC receiver along with others that can get the job done. You have to STOP the run before you can slow down the pass. Lining up wrong and not getting off blocks. We excelled in that area all night. So is that a game plan miscue of a case of getting your butt handed to you? Adjustments? How can you "adjust" when you are not executing what is being called now?

Oconner was gone period. It wasn't about the money. A school system can only pay what the salary scale dictates. Oconner abandoned our young men in January. Because of the loopholes in schools system policies, the tax payers wound up paying him until 3 weeks before school was out. Coach Walt Smith only had 3 days to put together a one week spring practice with no staff. No 7 on 7's this summer. We were limited to 2 fall scrimmages when everyone else got 4. He had to hire a staff, replace a all state qb, most of the o-line, rb's, 2 d-line, and 2 lb's all of which were all district. Oconner also helped to run one of our best returning linemen off to another school. Oconner set us up with four 5a non-district foes + Ensworth. The T$$AA awarded us CPA. And there's more but that's all water under the bridge and that bridge is burnt to a crisp!  :thumb:

Jimmy's & Joe's. X's & O's. We got the Jimmy's & Joe's. They need to work on following the X's & O's. Come play-off time the Bobcats will be ready. They got man-handled by a great team and a staff that's been together. The progress that's been made since the 1st week of fall practice is outstanding. I look for the young men to bounce back this week. Bring it. The Bobcats will be ready...... :ugeek:

Amen, Wise One. We are about 4 weeks behind where we need to be because of having to wait on hiring a coach. Rome wasn't built in a week. Due to the way things were when Coach Walt took the job I was wasn't sure we would even be 2-1 at this point. Look at stats Savannah/Hardin County was slated to winning big team this year. Lawrenceburg went there Friday night and beat them 49-28. The same Lawrenceburg team we beat the week before. Lawrenceburg wasn't even suppose to be in that game. That's the same Savannah team that was huge and we struggled with in a scrimmage. With the short time together kids are still learning coaches and the coaches are still learning kids. This team has come a long way since July 1. I think Coach Walt and this tean has done well with what they have had to overcome. Go Bobcats!

Well said JAFO, . I think Coach Smith wiil have this program in good shape. CPA was a well oiled machine that probably will be playing well into winter. We all need to support this new staff and give it a chance. Our players DO NOT need to hear all this negativity...they feed off of it. Go Bobcats!

I agree with most you say but this I do not. Coach Smith showed me with this play that he is not where he should be in straegizing and decision making. With three seconds left there is absolutely no reason to punt the ball, only bad things could happen. He should have told the punter to run to the far sideline and fall down, easily burning off the three seconds. CPA coach Martin was actually strategizing and trying to set up the fair catch free kick rule. Luckily for Giles the ball hit the ground nullifying the fair catch. Even with time expired, had the fair catch been made in the air CPA would have been allowed to attempt the free kick from the spot of the catch.

Oh and the 5A schools you mentioned, please...they are by no means the toughest of 5A schools. Ensworth, now that I do not understand.

Hats off to CPA they were well coached and seemed to understand what they wanted to accompish. But I have seen Giles play as good and better teams and play much better games I feel due to coaching and strategy as much as anything.

You are correct. Officials initially told us it was a player. It was a confusing play since they had no return on.

5a is still 5a. Tullahoma & Shelbyville are no pushovers.

According to a player that has faced Greeneville, East Hamiliton, and Fulton, CPA's linemen & LB's were the best he had played against by a long shot. If we are playing the same schedule we played the last few years we are still undefeated right now. But then is then and now is a new season. Point is this team will be ready come play-off time... :ugeek:

Couldn't believe the score, and most of all, can't believe how much credit is being given to CPA... Giles is suppose to be the team talking about playing on up into the winter, and should welcome these tough games.  Its what get's you ready for the playoff's.  Having a cake walk schedule only hurts you, when you get into the playoff's. As seen by Giles, last year.

This was the year I thought Giles had another shot at State.  They returned a solid group, and I never expected us to come back on them in our season opener. Big, solid, and fast. From the talk of Giles fans, CPA must be men amoungst boy's.

3 seconds left, and punt. LOL! Means Smith has no confidence in his offense.  Which is a shame.  Hate to see Giles in a slump, but from all the crap talked over the years, guess you get, what you deserve.  Just hope it doesn't drop you guy's off the boards, cause I did look forward to post from you guy's, during football season.  Time to start making excuses and blaming others, it always show's great class.

When we were in our prime, we welcomed tough schedule's.  Guess that will be the first excuse as to why poor Giles had it so tough this year. When OC made the schedule,I'm sure he had no intent of leaving, and any good coach knows, If you think you got a shot at it, then you want to play the best, week in and week out. But poor old WOMG wants to cry and talk about last years weak schedule, and be happy with beating no bodies.  Suck it up, you have the team to win, so win, or shut up.

Thank you falconfever77 for thinking about us. Not everyone over here is all about smack talking and face rubbing, Over the years there has been a strong amount of respect for Lincoln County Falcons football program in Giles County and we hope you guys will return to a solid program again. As for us, yes there is work to be done and yes we should have shown up better this past Fri. We will bounce back. Go Bobcats!

Gotta call BS on that one.

While Giles and Lincoln play with boys from their area neighborhoods Private "football schools" like CPA play with kids from area states.  Will never be a fan of mixing the two.  Like taking a top travel ball team and putting them in your local rec league.
