How'd it work for me?? Fine I guess.

I got a new big house on the big side of town, A beautiful wife and lost 50lbs.

It's good to be me right now.

What is lost in the shuffle is what us Alcoee types have said for years that no one would believe.

If we didn't win it, CAKe would. The Naysay'ers jumped on that too and we know how that turned out.

CAKe was a very good team the last 5+ years...not just 2.

Alcoa will take 3A this year with a roster loaded with Sophs, so you better get used to it, it is the best thing going today.

I'd rather finish 2nd if I could have a new big house and lose 50 lbs. Already got a great wife and two are too expensive. :thumb:

I agree that CAK and Alcoa have been the 2 best in 3A for the past few years, but things change in sports. CAK found the formula to compete with Alcoa - great coaching, balanced offense, and a few great players. CPA has that this year, but you have to have some good fortune as well. Losing our QB against Milan in 2011 and our RB in 2012 cost us the championship game. We're still trying though.

I doubt if any team year in and out will have as many athletes as Alcoa, but never say never - not in sports.

Me too! But don't be upset.I had to make that long drive back 2 yrs ago when we went up to Greenville as freshman and took a beating. Only good thing out of that was the kids really grew up after that. If I were you, don't even turn the radio on. It makes the trip even longer. And don't get all upset on the way home, if you guys make it down to the falcons stadium.

I have never understood the quad system. That one year CPA won their district but were forced to play Goodpasture who finished 2nd in the same district because there was a concern about the price of gas so the TSSAA said they were making teams play each other regardless of seed that were close together. Nevermind Fairview was closer....they made us play Goodpasture.

And to the poster that keeps bringing up private schools.....look at the number of State Championships in football won by private schools in Division 1 Single A through Six A. It's a very, very small number. CPA won 2 state championships in Single A. They have none since the multiplier was implemented. How many state championships have Alcoa, Milan, and Giles County won in the last 10 - 15 years? Why not talk about the open enrollment system in the county where Alcoa is located? Yet they don't have a multiplier and can basically get kids from other school districts to come play for them with no tuition to pay. If it was so unfairly slanted towards private schools wouldn't you see more state champions from their ranks. CAK was one of the first in 3A in quite some time. They do not look like they will be able to repeat.

This was my point if poorly stated, where I'm from we consider these "open enrollment schools" private. Alcoas maryvilles have a super advantage in getting kids, just look at their little league and track where the kids come from for the past decade of dominance--- neighboring counties and outside the city limits of these two programs.

How do you compete unless you establish a TRUE public league?

Depends on who gets the number 1 seed KTown. Many things go into that seeding

    • Hope the catcher on baseball team come back out and play's football . He didn't play last year if I remember but I don't remember much after that wreck anyways.. But he did play his freshman and soph years and I thought was a very good player. He's put on some size now, so I'm hoping he's thinking about playing again..
    • Pirates are young this year.  Gordy can sleep on them.
    • They’ll get it worked out eventually.Farragut is too good of a program to be down for long. As an OR fan, I can’t really say I’m too distraught about it though.
    • I didn’t even see that until you said something, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Yes, the coaches can’t get along with each other. But I don’t think they’re openly taking shots at each other right in front of the parents. If they are, that’s pitiful though, that’s really pitiful. I sure hope they’re not, but yeah, I’ve heard the same thing from players over at Farragut getting fed up, and I feel as though what the coaching staff has been trying to keep under the prying eyes of the parents is now out on full display.
    • and there is definitely a reason for that—more than just Catholic recruiting.
