Nashville Christian @ Clarksville Academy (who will win and why)

Nashville Christian should be worried anytime they have to travel. It may not be this week or anytime this year for that matter but at some point NCS will have to eat some good old fashioned home cooking like they served up last week. What comes around goes around.

I thought you were moving on from last week.  I'm still willing to sit down with you and watch the film so you can see the penalties in slow-motion.  We'll do some Jon Gruden together  .  They are plain as day.  Would you want to win a game against a little ole 1A team knowing that the refs missed some obvious calls?

We play away games just like everyone else. Sometimes there are calls for you and sometimes there are calls against you. It's part of the game. Refs are human and do make mistakes, but I didn't see too many in the game last week. Time to let it go.

Hey dad I'm all for that so I can see whatever it is that you and the refs claimed to see. Maybe we should sit down with them too. I did watch the film and you were actually right about your rbs stats. I'm man enough to admit I was wrong about that one. Are you man enough to admit it wasn't an interception that was thrown late in the game. The ball clearly hit the ground. I will also say that at least you didn't resort to childish remarks like some others did.

Bottom line is IMO east was and still is the better team by far. However penalties killed us and other calls like the int that really wasn't an int. I don't complain about officials if they are awful to both teams. However this one was clearly one sided. As I said what goes around comes around. At some point you will get beat by a lesser opponent due to home cooking and you will know how it feels. It doesn't taste very good especially when fans say your team was out coached, punished, etc. I'll keep up with NCS and when it happens I'll gladly supply you a fork and knife.

I've watched the INT a bunch of times and honestly I can't tell if it hit the ground or not.  I did speak with our QB after the game and he claims he got his hands under the ball.  I know, we're talking about a high school kid, but I really believe he would just say (after the game was over), it hit the ground if indeed it did.

And here's a quote (from The Tennessean) to back my point about being out-coached (this is just one of a few things I'm referring to).......

But Nashville Christian (8-1) answered with a 56-yard touchdown connection from Young to receiver Houston Downey, and then took the game's momentum back with an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff that led to another score to tie the score in the second quarter.

"That is one that kind of cost us," East Nashville coach Brian Waite said. "I think that kind of turned the momentum a little bit because I feel like if we had gotten the ball back we had the opportunity to score and score fast."

If you have the film, watch the ineligible down field penalty again.  I feel bad for the kid because he clearly thought Upton was going to take off, but he was five yards past the line of scrimmage when Upton pulled up and threw the pass.  If you're the referee responsible for that call, you make it.  I referee high school soccer games and I've never once thought to myself, "I'm going to make a call here so that the home team can win".  I trust the same is true of the men who referee these football games.

I'm certainly not naive enough to think if the two teams played ten times that we would be 10-0.  But I do believe we would win a few of those ten.

Dad I can show you the film that shows your qbs hands were at his knees when the ball hit the ground. Maybe east had a better angle. Maybe a kid can lie. Maybe not all refs have the integrity that you have. And the kick was not being out coached. East had a freshmen in due to injury. He makes that catch most of the time. And if you are going to use a quote from a paper make sure the writer knows what a sky kick is instead of onsides kick.

Let me know when you want to watch film together or we can wait until that home cooking comes up.

I can't help it that the writer uses wrong terminology.  The kick was perfectly executed and I was referring to the quote from your coach which is basically an admission of being caught off guard.  Anyone that has ever seen a high school football game has seen a sky kick and it still amazes me that a special teams coach would not tell his boys to signal for a fair catch and then catch the ball - not just your team - ANY team.  We are never going to agree on this coaching argument.  I know what I saw - your coaching staff was outdone.

Did your coaches take your advice and send the game film to TSSAA?  Call me naive, but I still don't believe that 5 men come together before a sporting event and predetermine a winner (or in your vernacular "home cook" the game.

Sorry everyone else.  I'll stop and get back to the CA game for this week.

How do you know a sky kick hasn't been coached. Maybe a kid was just a kid. Like your qb saying he caught an interception. Catching a team off guard on one play is one thing. Get out coached is another. I think the east coach was saying that the sky kick at that moment caught them off guard. That doesn't mean it hasn't been coached up though. But hey you are right. We will not agree on this.
