easttnballer
Oakdale is my surprise team starting 4 sophomores and 1 freshman and the freshman had 31 points in their first game.
SportsnetWriter2
I think 4A is up for grabs, much like 3A. I think Oakdale will surprise some people as they've got young talent. Honestly, I think it's Wartburg's to lose. Coach Layne is excellent. Sunbright and Oneida should surely be in the mix as well!
CarolinaCrazy
After seeing scores and seeing Jellico play, I'll say Jellico is the favorite. They have a game changing point guard and lots of size for single A. Coach is ok, not great but ok.
PCsupporter4life
Clarkrange beat Wartburg 78-36? What happened?
Cookevegas3
My power poll so far after early scores.... 1. Jellico (3-1) 2. Oneida (1-1) 3. Oliver Springs (2-1) 4. Oakdale (2-2) 5. Coalfield (0-1) still missing football players 6. Wartburg (0-2) 7. Sunbright (0-3)
gobeywarrior
clarkrange couldnt miss and wartburg shot id guess about 12 for 60 in the game not hitting no more than 1-3 and attempting at least 15 wartburg couldnt hit anything and they had no rebounding clarkrange controlled that with ease one shot and done layne played younger kids most of the 2nd half after it was a 30 pt game Edited November 22, 2013 by gobeywarrior
Cookevegas3
Post Thanksgiving Rankings 1. Jellico (4-2) - Took down Grace the other day and are 1-0 in district play. 2. Oneida (2-1) - Haven't play many, but got a good win over Cosby. 3. Oliver Springs (4-4) - Lost a close one to Meigs Co, but have wins over Harriman and Tellico Plains. 4. Oakdale (3-4) - Have lost to some tough teams, but this young team can't be overlooked, 0-1 in district. 5. Wartburg (2-2) - A rebuilding year, but still to early to count them out. 6. Coalfield (0-1) - Football success gives them little to work with. They return this week. 7. Sunbright (0-6) - They are coached well and play hard even though they are winless. Game coming up this week...Jellico vs Wartburg, Oakdale vs Oneida, Wartburg vs Sunbright
AHSBBALL
Oakdale is a team that is underestimated in my opinion. The are lacking on defense but are very good offensively. Maverick Smith is one of the most impressive freshman I've seen. Keep an eye on them
Tigers0824
Oakdale could be strong and wartburg is always well coached but after reading through the thanksgiving games, OS cant be ignored, Lost by 1 to Meigs Co. with sophmore Murray dropping 21 against Levi woods. They could be a strong contender against Jellico come district tournament time
bulldogqueen
Wartburg beat Harrmian by 5 or so, and pounded Greenback, but I don't think those are necessarily "big wins" this year. I feel the district might shake out like this: 1) Jellico 2) Oneida 3) Wartburg 4) Oakdale 5) Oliver Springs 6) Coalfield 7) Sunbright I think Jellico wins the tournament as well, but the region qualifiers are Jellico, Wartburg, OS, and Sunbright
Stillgettinitfive
If we are going to say that if Oliver Springs, Wartburg, and Oakdale getting wins over Harriman is a good sign, then it may be good to know that Coalfield handled Harriman in an exhibition game weeks ago. Obviously without the football players. Also, it is obvious Wartburg and Sunbright have two extremely good coaches, but their rosters are virtually talentless this year. Both Oakdale and Coalfield will surprise teams this year, no doubt in my mind. From watching a good amount of district 4a during the summer and keeping updated on the game results thus far my poll would look something like this, 1. Jellico 2. Oneida 3? Oakdale 3? Coalfield 5. Wartburg 6. Oliver Springs 7. Sunbright
