Thanks WH4L, that is sort of what i thought but wasn't real sure. Sounds like you have a lot of speed on your team. Should be a great game if we can control West speed guys.

This HC team is not as big or fast as the 2011 team but they are every bit as talented. I think we have more depth than we did in 2011 especially on the lines. Your description of West's team sounds a lot like the Memphis East team we played in the 2nd round except they liked to pass more than run.Mistakes is what cost them in that game. Looking forward to a great game!

Mistakes have almost costed West a few games specifically earlier in the season against Cleveland and Farragut. In the Cleveland game they did jump out to a 28-0 lead but had 6 turnovers which could have been disastrous if not for the big lead. Against Farragut, West had 150 yards in penalties, 45 yards on one drive which gift wrapped one of their TDs and West had 3 TDs called back on holding calls, despite all that West won 25-16.

That was then though but since West has really cleaned that up -Playing disciplined football and not turning the ball over.

You guys definitely have another solid group like 2011 and it should be a great game. West will have to bring their A game to win this.

If West is a run first team, I like our chances. HC defense has stepped up huge over the last 4 weeks. Northeast finished with 36 yards total rushing...and that includes a 67 yard TD run (if I read the PI website right). That is crazy, especially considering the speed and talent in their back field. I think we have gotten better at making midgame adjustments, and not just at halftime. I remember in 2011, all the blowout predictions and shootout predictions. I think this game will be very similar to the Powell game. A somewhat lower scoring, hard fought, physical battle up front decided by less than 7 points when it's over. Congrats to West for making it over the Semi-final hump. We HC fans know just how heart breaking those semi-final losses are.

How is West's kicking game? I think that could be a huge factor.

Wests kicking game is solid...our kicker hit a 50 harder a few weeks back in the cold and puts it in the endzone more times than not on kickoffs.

Quick question, but back in 2011 who was predicted to blowout the other between Powell and Henry Co. After West lost I kind of lost track of the message boards at that time but I did watch the game and it was one heckuva game.

I dont recall exactly.  I dont think it was particularly one sided.  Just over zealous fans, and the typical East vs. West debate.  I wasn't really trying to make a point, other than I think it will be a close game.  West has put up some amazing numbers.  It will be interesting to see HC defend the veer.

They really have...I thought West's offense was better last year going into this year, but I was completely wrong. This years offense I know has gotten to play 2 more games than last year, but still have scored 200 more points. Im curious to see how West defense matches up with Henry County's offense. What is your special teams like?

I assure you Henry County was expected to be blown out.  I think the line of reasoning was "but y'all don't play nobody" or something along those lines.

With the above information I have come to a few conclusions, The first is that if a Henry fan thinks that for some reason they have played a schedule that is harder than West they are sadly mistaken and the above information proves just that, West only loss is to the Beast from the East Maryville and had Henry played them they would have lost that game as well as would just about any other team in the state.  Had West played anyone other than Maryville they would also be undefeated and would have won their district and had all games up to this point at home, but even if you exclude Maryville and add an average team to that spot the West Schedule is more difficult.  Another conclusion is the path to Cookeville, West had to defeat the AP #4 and #5 teams at home as well as travel to the AP #3 to win a very tuff game on the road which I believe will show after next week to be the 5A post season game that decided the Championship, My opinion so don't freak out.  Also you will see that the JR and SR groups for both teams have pretty much the same post-season experience so neither team will be at a disadvantage in that department.  If you went by just the numbers alone given the strength of schedule that West has had to endure with the results they have gotten than I do not see how anyone that is unbias to the 2 teams could pick anything other than West +6.  However my gut seems to tell me that West will pull away in that game and I will pick:

West: 33, Henry 14

This is my opinion, feel free to make it you own.  Good luck to both teams on an injury free game and I hope West can come through.

I appreciate the work you did here.  I love looking at statistics like this.  However, believe it or not, I do have 4 thoughts/comments.

1   Such statistics might come into play with common opponents but are otherwise meaningless

2   There are not twelve teams in this state capable of beating Henry County this Friday

3   Fewer points allowed can be interpreted to mean the opposing teams were worse

3   More points scored can be interpreted to mean the opposing teams were worse

4   Our opponents don't even have common opponents!

5   West record versus undefeated teams is 0-1 (a meaningless statistic)

6   By your reasoning the Cardinals win the World Series and Alabama wins the Iron Bowl and the better SEC football teams play a weak schedule

7   There are not 483 High School teams in the United States capable of beating Henry County this Friday

9   Comment #3 can be logically applied to all your scoring and records comparisons

And my fourth thought is this.  When you guys quit ordaining Maryville as being unbeatable, they will no longer be unbeatable.  The mystique they hold over East Tennessee teams is incredible to me.  I bet if all the coaches and players in East Tennessee were asked who will win the State Championship in 2015, over 90% would say Maryville.  Now does that really make any sense?

Now, for my fourth and final thought.  Your post will provide much motivation for our boys.  They don't like feeling lessened.

I would have to say their defense is their strong point but they do have a good/balanced offense as well. They have not scored as many points as West but that is b/c, that is just not their style. They will pound the ball constantly and use their depth to wear teams down and more times than not pull away in the 2nd half. I have actually seen them platoon the entire offensive line in the middle of a drive, they have a lot of depth.....

That is what AC game plan was we have a good offensive line. AC played tough got to 25 to 19 middle of 4th qt but West busted a 60+ yard run to seal it. West has a very fast defense. Im sure HC has the West and AC game. But good luck at stopping West.... I say West wins.... Go WEST!!

This is one post, but I know there were more. Also, I remember a lot of HC fans saying Powell shouldn't even show up. I shouldn't have to go find one and type it, cause I'm sure you remember. So, I'd say it went both ways.
