likearock
Chris Walker from Marshall County. The best uncommitted player in the state. Walker has size speed and plays with a ton of heart. Best of luck to him.
BTWSheriff
What does Butch Jones have to do differently in Memphis? He's pulling them in from everywhere else and everybody seems to really like him. I haven't studied the two players that commited to Oregon but I do think it takes a different type player to play in the SEC. I would like to see Tennessee pull more players from Memphis though. Whats it gonna' take? Honestly, I believe they just have to show MORE interest. After Phillip Fulmer no other coach really made a commitment to lock down the Memphis area. Fulmer used to lock it down SEC wise in the west Tn area. With Ole Miss being the closest SEC school to Memphis, about an hour away, Hugh Freeze is coming across the border and racking up. It doesn't help that Hugh Freeze is from Memphis and Coached at Briacrest and in Jackson, Tn. Therefore, he has the connections and knows the area and kids. Butch has to promote UT. When you go in Walmart or any other store in Memphis you will see more Ole Miss gear than Tennessee. Seriously. I would love to see more Memphis kids playing for the state school. Butch had the opportunity to offer Darius Simms (Vandy return specialist and SEC leader from Whitehaven) but he didn't ever offer him. It also helps Ole Miss that they have another ex-Memphis High School head coach on staff. That would be coach Harris. He was the head coach at Whitehaven for about five to six years. He was the head coach at Whitehaven who preceeded Coach Saulsberry. On a different note, inside sources tell me that UT (Coach Ellder) has in-roads with two Whitehaven football players who are in the 2016 class. Coach Elder was in town for the Whitehaven/Melrose game where he visited with Josh McMillion, but that's not who he is after since Josh has already verballed to Bama. Coach Elder was trying to kill three brids with one stone. Johnathan Johnson, the WR at Melrose has not committed either, so I know he was there to see/be seen by him as well. I think Butch has assigned Memphis to Coach Elder ... or that's how it appears to me. The word I've heard is that the two Whitehaven players have intrerest in UT as well. So ... we'll see what the future holds. I see Coach Elder getting a whole lot of frequent flyer miles coming to Memphis. Enough to probably take his family on a vacation. Frankly, that's what it's going to take. If I were UT, I might invest in a small effeciency aptartment somewhere in town for my coaches to use when they come here. NotNoahHouck
Kyle Akin, Jackson, TN, Trinity Christian is still uncommitted I believe. He passed Charlie High for all time pass yards in all classes, and ended 3 touchdowns behind all class touchdown passes. I believe he had 132. Three year starter at Trinity Christian Academy
JDOGG80
Javonte Moffatt from Union City as a CB. At 6'1 170 pounds and with great speed has only 2 passes caught against him and has 5 int. He also has like 6 special teams TD's. Also Tristan Jernigan could play the offensive or defensive line. He has good size with room to grow at 6'2 275 pounds he is a mr. Football finalist as a lineman. Edited November 29, 2014 by JDOGG80

Jernigan is good but not SEC good. He could play at UT Martin or Chattanooga though. Same with moffatt if no bigger schools go after him. Even MTSU. BullShark
Brandon Donaldson from Henry County. As of a month or so ago, he hadn't even received an offer, and that is crazy to me. With all of the smaller schools that are in close proximity to us (UT Martin, Bethel, Murray State, Austin Peay, etc.), I find it hard to believe that none of them could use a 6'4" WR who was a 3 year starter at a 5A powerhouse, won 2 state rings as a starter, and shattered pretty much every single-season receiving record in school history this past year. He's also about 50 points shy of becoming our basketball program's all time leading scorer. Just a really good all around athlete. Brandon will also be a steal! Surely someone will take a flyer on this kid! He will be a contributor for whoever does offer him

TNFootballFanatic
Does UT not believe in Joc Bruce? Not giving him a scholarship this year but letting him "blueshirt". Whats that about? Edited February 4, 2015 by TNFootballFanatic
Bravey
Does UT not believe in Joc Bruce? Not giving him a scholarship this year but letting him "blueshirt". Whats that about? He will be on scholarship starting in August .. Blueshirt only means that they didnt have an in home visit with him and he never came to UT on an official visit ..only unofficial visits .. it allows teams to bring in more players ina year .. his scolly will still count against the 85 total.
