crazzyness
In tennessee the state tournament is double elimination, that's what I was referring too. In 2006, I believe that is the correct year, Friendship lost the first game if the tournament and then went on to win the state tournament.... 2007 actually, but you're right. rebelboy121
THIS would be great for competition. Travel would be more but who really cares if you are able to compete with teams your own size. Need to get basketball coaches to support this change. Years ago when football went to 5 classes the basketball coaches were against the change or it would have been 5 classes across the board. Its time to rally the troops and got 5 or 6 classes across the board. The state tournament would be a huge money maker for everyone. rebelboy121
The friday game in baseball should be a best 2 out of 3 to see who goes to the state tournament

Maybe small schools in the eastern part of the state who would have to travel 3 hours or more to play more than 6 or 8 district games in a year, that's who. rebelboy121
I wondered who would be the first to whine about travel. Being able to compete makes it worth it.
ecu
I think that is what everyone wants, a level playing field. So what if you have to travel a little bit more. Let's hope the powers that be will get this mess straightened out.
Indian
I would not want the number making the region reduced, that hurts strong districts like the Murfreesboro group.

The state tournament would be a huge money maker for everyone. and the only people that would make "huge" money on a state tournament would be TSSAA. Driving an hour+ each way, a couple times each week gets expensive. Schools would have to increase their budgets (which is not going to happen) or just pass along the extra costs to the parents of the athletes. Football makes since to go to 6 because of the one game a week and with as many teams and only playing in only 3 classes, the games would go until March. WrenchMonkey
Most teams in rural areas have a good bit of travel anyways! At least they would be traveling to play schools close to the same size!

Having 15 and 16 year olds not getting home till 1AM 2 nights a week for 3 months at a time or later is TOTALLY worth it. Gah I'm such an idiot. I'm glad you're here tto set the record straight.
