I need to hear some breakdown from the GCA and Tellico game to help me with this game.Come on pride tell me about it!

Tellico is much smaller and less physical than they've been the past couple of years. The score was 42-14 when we put our JV/Freshman out there in the 3rd qtr. Tellico's QB throws a great deep ball. They also have 2 kids at WR with good speed. Their run game is average, at best.

I played against that 1988 team of CB they were a really good physical football team, they beat the tar out of us that yr.My shoulders still hurt to this day after that game!LOL.

They beat us 28-14 that season and we went 4-5 and totally missed the playoffs. We were very very bad in 1988. We're you on the 87 state team for Greenback?

Both Patrick's were on that team. Grider took over at QB. A lot was lost from those 85,86, & 87 teams. Nelson, Morrison, Pitts, Whisnant, Grider were all in the backfield at times. We were bad, but I was over near Jackson TN at that time.

Nelson was the slowest tailback to ever line up in the side-saddle single wing.  He had a knack for finding a hole.  However, the hole the size of a train would open, close and open again be the time he got there.  Pitts went on to be a good TB back and Whisnant a good WB in 89.  Nelson was used as a FB in 89 along with Todd Morrison.   Webb knocked Copper Basin out of the playoffs in the 1st round in 89.  Basin was 6 - 3.

You are correct on all accounts. Losing to Oneida on a blocked punt ended their careers in 1989 in the second round.

Question for CP fans:

Do you all play Andrews? We played them the last two years, and will probably never play them again. The officiating is terrible over there, and their fans are crap. I guess the team ate after the game, and they left a mess behind the bleachers.

And I have always enjoyed our rivalry. You all also have one of the best looking fields around.

Yes, we usually play Andrews annually. And the officiating is terrible in all of North Carolina. You go up there with the mindset of being down 14-0 at the start of the game. And for all the SP talk I was glad they were taken off of the schedule after my sophomore year. However, I would have liked to played in the semis my senior year. SP just about every year minus those few mentioned are just more talented and most likely always will be. Just the way it is. They are a dynasty and we have good seasons every two or three years at the best.

I wish CB was playing Polk this season. CB would beat them

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
