Marion and Sequatchie (Ross man against that Colquette man)

That's the game we all want. We manhandled that same team 2 yrs ago. Went up there with no coaches and had no shot. If we get them again it's gonna be a different story.

It's not the same team. Trousdale was the clear cut better team last season. They lost most of their line starters. Marion is the better team this season. Like I said to begin the season. Marion would go 10-0 or 9-1 at the worst.

It was pretty much the same team. All the names were in our program. They lost some line this year and have a few injuries that are hurting them. We have 2 injuries to big starters who may be gone for the season.

They had 120 at the half and in the third went 1 play (interception), 3 and out, fumble on kickoff.and called fumble on their 4 chances. They were never moving it consistently but weren't being completely shut down either, mistakes took away an chance at all to win. 2 illegal procedures first drive of game, delay after getting it to a makeable 4th and 5 at Marion 37 second possession, fumble (recovered) and another IP first two plays of third possession, and on fourth possession after blocking punt and getting it at Marion 16, hold on first play and drop a pass that would have gone at least five yards second play. Three and out fifth possession, then after a 70 yard run to Marion 23, another 5 yard penalty helps kill another possible scoring drive. 1st and 15 isnt impossible to overcome but 4 plays to get 10 yards of course is much more manageable. All the mistakes in one half alone, no excuse.

This is an article in the Times Free Press. I was pretty sure we held SC to under 100 yds of offense with the first team. This 4th qtr TD was against a lot of freshmen, not 1st team D.

Colby Reed's 31-yard fourth-quarter run was Sequatchie's lone score against a Marion first-team defense that held the Indians under 100 yards and to four first downs before Ross called on the reserves.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
