Isn't the running back at West high from halls?

I was told by a Gibbs coach that Cottrell is zoned Gibbs. Not 100% sure, however.

And to add, all of the public schools in North Knox County have been hit hard by the privates. Powell has lost a ton of kids to Grace Christian, Catholic, and now some kids are going to The King's Academy because they and their parents want them to play for Matt Lowe, with good reason.

All of the "non-inner city" schools are in serious competition with the private schools now.

Both schools have a number of players who have migrated to play out of zone.  The only way to keep these kids is to start winning games.  Sounds easy...but you got to have the horses to compete.  I have faith both of these programs will eventually pull out of this funk.  Many things in life are cyclical, football is no different.

You want to talk about QBs, we can go all the way back to Brent Burnett(Maryvile) or Devin Smith(Grace). Best argument about this is that Halls is not seeing the growth like other parts of Knox County.

And wasn't there some guy named Pennington zoned for Halls at one time?

Pennington LIVED in Halls right off of Mynatt Rd., both his parents taught in the Halls schools, his sister graduated from Halls in 96 or 97.  Don't make no difference where he was born, HE LIVED in Halls till after he went to Marshall.

What ever happened to Brunette the QB that went to Maryville?  Didn't he go play at 2-3 different colleges?  Wonder what he's doing now?

I still beleive it's more about little league programs than growth of the locations. Top little league programs in knoxville in the last 6-8 years are Fulton (coach josh), west, catholic and south Doyle ( south Knox) or whatever they are/where called.

West use to make the little league coaches come to a coaching clinic put on by the high school coaches.

West and Fulton both pretty much run a high school offense at the midget and super midget level. The offense and terminology is not a foreign language to these kids when they step on the high school field day 1.

Went to MTSU but don't know if he ever got to play that much.

Signed with MTSU out of Maryville - actually started a couple of games as a redshirt freshman when the QB ahead of him was injured, but the QB ahead of him, who actually fit the offense that MTSU was running at the time much better than Burnett did, was in the same class as Brent. Brent transferred to a juco (same one that Aaron Douglas went to from UT - Western Arizona) where he played one year and then transferred to and finished his career at the University of Colorado. Don't think he actually played much at Colorado.

Not sure where he is now or what he is doing.

    • I havent kept up with Keeton since he went to Oakland, so hearing he is in a BOE role now, that may trump him coming back.  Rennard on the other hand. That dude is a Man Builder! And he was cut loose this spring from Scotts Hill. Heard him in a interview a few month back and he inspired me. He needs to be back home in the Purple & Gold, regardless of if he is HC or not or even if he doesnt coach at all, his presences will improve the environment. But Again, I have no clue if he would even be interested.

    • Shoulders from Macon co.  A creasy protege. Has the best coached team in the area as of late. Not much shot to win a state title at Macon but could very well be a contender with the talent coming up through the peewee and junior high ranks in TC I hear. He my dark horse candidate. trousdale co fans could also brag to their neighbors that they talked their best coach into coming to TC on a year of such high expectations at Macon co.
