So.....how does the quad sit:

Oneida

Hampton

Rockwood

GCA

Meigs

Boyd

I do not know, but I think Oneida (win tonight) and Hampton are locks at 1 and 2.  Don't know where the rest are sitting?

If Boyd comes in the quad as a district champ(which they will)they should be the three seed.GCA will be the four seed then Meigs has the heads up win over Rockwood that should give them the five seed and Rockwood the six is that not correct?

Rockwood has not played defense like that since the first of the year only one blown coverage that resulted in a Ram td the dline was all over the qb every pass play. When was the last time a Webb coached team lined up in a power I? He did it 1 time last night it went for 12 yards!

Yeah, it looks like murders row from here on out....and i think anyone in the quad has a chance.  There will be no easy games from the very first one right up to the end.  The quality of this quad is special....rarely are you going to find 6 teams entering the playoff feeling they can make it to the semi's.  Home field might help a team here more than usual.  Long trips to Hampton and Oneida, except for Rockwood or GCA, could factor in a little.  Oneida might go longer with the starters tonight, and I'm sure Coach Lambert is agonizing over what the best decision for his team is with the next game being so big.  I guess he will let the game dictate what he does here.  He is not notorious for running up scores.  This bracket probably has everyone bothered.  Rockwood beats Oneida and GCA.....Oneida beats Hampton.....Meigs beats Rockwood....GCA beats Meigs....and Boyd plays a killer schedule and still wins their district.  Marion Co. awaits.

Quad 1 should look like this:

1. Oneida - Dist Champ best rec'd beat Hampton

2. Hampton - Dist Champ best record

3. GCA - Dist Champ 2nd best record

4. Boyd - Dist Champ 3rd best record

5. Rockwood - best record of wild card Quad 1

6. Meigs County

Next Week:

Meigs at GCA - winner goes to Hampton

Rockwood at Boyd - winner goes to Oneida

More takes:

Rockwood has the two most defining victories (Oneida and GCA), their loss to Meigs also is the most puzzling upset.

Meigs has obviously played pretty well the last several weeks (4 gm winning streak) but they too have a bit of a head scratcher in the loss to Sweetwater.

GCA is a very solid team but they are not the same unit they were last year.....they did not beat Meigs convincingly and Rockwood win imo is still an upset.

Hampton has tremendous balance on offense-they can run and pass well- meaning a defense that beats them has to have good run and pass coverage.

Oneida's defense can keep them in any game they play.....some will say they are too focused on the run, but their passing has perked up lately (Coalfield and TD catch against Sunbright)

Rockwood has added a weapon in #6.  Keep an eye on him and Long.

Oneida is averaging nearly three hundred yards on the ground and they eat a lot of clock on drives.

GCA has arguably the best offensive line (by size) but they apparently are suseptable to quick defensive linemen.

Boyd is the box of chocolates....you don't know what your going to get.....!

Hampton also has Pujo....the only Coacht'er to give it like it is, even if odds are against his team,  He calls it straight down the line.

Who you going to see in Meigs-team on a roll or team that lost to Sweetwater?

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
