I'm not denying any of that. I'll shamelessly admit that I like to see the Govs win scrimmages and jamborees and hate losing anything. The thing is I'm one of the few that will actually admit it. Lol Just look at the Maryville fans. It's obvious as heck that losing that Jamboree last year bothered them and still does or else they wouldn't be bringing it up all the time. Have I brought it up? Have the other WB posters brought it up? No. And by that same token have the Heritage fans brought up that they beat Alcoa in the Jamboree? No. Atleast not that I heard. The city school fans always like to bring up that they weren't playing their starters etc when they lose because they hate losing. It's their way of trying to kill the county schools good vibes. The reason I was giving Heritage a hard time is because one of the other Heritage posters took a shot at WB before the scrimmage the other night. He said "we aren't hungry for moral victories like the guys on the other side of the county" But then I get over there and Heritage's team and fans were hooting and hollering that they were beating Sevier Co. I don't fault Heritage for being excited about that scrimmage. It just rubbed me the wrong way when that guy made that comment. Everyone has an ego and wants to act like scrimmages don't phase them one way or the other unless they win them and then they brag and gloat about it.

No you havent brought it up but i bet you have the t shirt framed and on your wall. 💩

The Jamboree has become a waste of time and effort. It became a marginal event when Sevier County pulled out and began their own Jamboree. Alcoa, like Maryville, will not play their starters for any significant amount of time. The threat of injury is just too great. Alcoa will at best play our No.1 units (O/D) for one series each.  After that you will see the remainder of the roster including freshmen. It is time to consider the value of this event and whether a wasted day of practice for the regular season is warranted.

Did Alcoa pull their starters last year when Heritage jumped out on them first? Edited by rebelwoman87

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
