ysoangry
What will it take to have a sustainable and successful program? A.) quality coaches B.) community support, and C.) fiscal support If you want an effective and successful program, support your lions. My personal opinion is Dresden has 1.75 % of these three things. Looks like they are working on #1 if they can land a good assistant or two along with coach Rang. #2 The community is behind the Lions with support, verbally. When I talk about the support needed I'm talking about have a stadium clean up day and see who shows up. That's the support Dresden is lacking. The admin wont even have the school janitors get near the field house or weight room so it's up to the parents or players. Now I do think the players have a responsibility to respect the facilities enough to keep it clean. #3 You have a core group of people who give the majority fiscal support to the Lion's. It's pretty sad when only 15-20% (probably a high estimate) of the players family are members of the QB club. It only cost 25 dollars to join so really, there are no excuses not to be a member. I think the Lion's will have three really good years ahead of them if they will do the extra work needed to elite. Talent will make them good, work could make them great!!!! Go Lion's
ToBeHonest
Well, then my question is how do we fix this? How can we have more support for the program? Do they need to have an "open house" meet/greet type of event? Maybe people are still a little jaded..? Idk and nor do pretend to have the answers. The skill players are there. Coaching is there and they working toward improving/adding more quality coaches.
hogheaven
You will never get support from more than 15-20% of parents. Reason would be rude to say, but true. 😙
westtennfootballfan
It's real simple, and your problem is the same at about 75% of other schools. Personal Agenda!!
ToBeHonest
Personal agenda for whom? Forgive my ignorance.

Coaching is there and they working toward improving/adding more quality coaches. Honestly, if I had that answer I would be a motivational speaker for a living. I could increase productivity at work, harmony in Washington and create world peace. I think it starts with the admin and it really doesn't take long to realize Dresden is a girls basketball school. If it wasn't for the creation of the QB club and the passing away of a former governor the press-box would've caved in by now, we would be playing on dirt only, using port-a-pots and sitting on 5 gallon buckets. I'm still jaded myself but I'm still going to support what we have. I agree that most likely all schools deal with 75% of the people verbally supporting programs but they always seem to be busy when it's time to get dirty or donate time and money. I want to see what the Lion's look like in 5 years. I hope we are still competitive but I'm afraid we will revert to the ofer years. i'm willing to bet my house we will have a new coach in 5 years. But that is just my opinion and we know what opinions are like.

ToBeHonest
Yeah, the next few years should be interesting. Good talented young men. As for all of the other, I'm sure that I was preaching to the church. I just wondered if we could get the type of support you see in surrounding areas; UC, Milan, HC, etc. I know that the common theme with the schools that are listed include the size of their towns but, still. We should be able to mimic that type of support.
pac12
One thing these schools have in common and that is all 3 have won championships or have been there several times. If everyone would stop worrying about who the coach is and support the young men that are playing and donate time money support etc. At the ballgames everyone is more worried about desperate housewives and what everybody else is doing. Come to the games win or lose that is support. When people come just because Dresden wins that's bandwagon.
