I've been asking the football crowd this question, but not getting any answer, so I'll try in here. Why doesn't Union City just move on up to 2A? They can if they want to. And, they only missed being 2A by 3 students!! UC is a bigger school, so why don't they just move on up, and play other bigger schools?

Technically we would still be in single A in basketball since there is only 3 classes in all sports but football.

That's not the answer he is wanting to hear...My question would be why don't Greenfield and Gleason just go and play 9-man football...Either that or try and get into some home school league...

BTW...We did that smallest school in AA thing for awhile...

It's about fairness. If Union City was playing in 3A, and going against schools twice their size, and playing against teams where maybe only 1 or 2 boys played both ways....I mean, they had an offensive team and defensive team...and, never had a chance to win the district...then, I'd bet we'd be hearing from UC fans about unfair it was. I mean, when a team can pick from twice as many boys to be on the basketball team, and the football team, then it just creates an unfair advantage. It just does.

If a school is playing other schools that are near to the same size and still get beat all the time, then so be it. They just need to work harder, and get better. But, whenever a team is facing schools twice their size on a regular basis, then...I'm sorry....but, something just doesn't seem fair about that.

But, that's how it is in the TSSAA, so small schools like Bradford, Gleason, Greenfield, S. Fulton, Lake Co., and others just have to make the best of it.

South Pittsburg and South Fulton have the same number of students in high school.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
