GCPioneer--What's your thoughts on Middleton vs Gibson County?

Supposedly, Gibson and Middleton scrimmaged in the summer and Gibson won by a slight margin, but I've seen Middleton twice this year and they've destroyed the teams that they played whom were very good teams themselves. With that being said, I think Middleton would be too much. Middleton has depth, size, and athleticism. Gibson has several very good shooters, but lack a post presence that can contain both Rachelle and Deja at the same time. I don't think that Middleton is head and shoulders better, a single digit game for sure. Hopefully, for the sake of west TN 1A basketball, the two best teams in west won't meet until the state tournaments. The only way they will meet prior to state is if one were to get upset in region championship and have to travel to the other for substate.

Right... last year, Union City and Middleton were the top 2 teams and they played each other in substate...

Been that way more often than not, even back to the nineties.

Watched GC last night against a scrappy Bradford team and GC shot the ball poorly and won by 19. Think GC needs to get the ball down low more to open up the threes. They will be better after Christmas when they will have added depth in China Hayes at point.

What are your thoughts on a Riverside v Gibson County substate game?  That is how I see Regions 7 and 8 playing out.

Gibson will beat Riverside.. I just worry that an upset will take place and the two top A teams from the west will not be in Murfreesboro just like last year.

I think they probably win that game too, but Riverside is a very physical team and makes you earn everything.  I dont think they will be an easy out, but at home I definitely give Gibson County the edge.  The post season is going to be fun to watch.

Are there any respectable teams in District 16A that could beat one of the District 15A teams in the Region tournament? For the last several years District 15A has swept the Region, but this year numbers 3 and 4 won't be as strong as in the past.

I think they probably win that game too, but Riverside is a very physical team and makes you earn everything.  I dont think they will be an easy out, but at home I definitely give Gibson County the edge.  The post season is going to be fun to watch.

 

I haven't seen Riverside this year, but I know they only lost 1 player off of last years team that I saw. They would have no answer to stop Bri Fields athleticism. Not sure their guards are capable or handling Gibsons press for 32 minutes either..
