My thoughts on Rhea Co and Hillsboro.....   I think we caught Rhea County completely off guard in the 1st half.  They made adjustments in the locker room at halftime and we didn't.  So Rhea Co came

Great game by west .. Hillsboro won the 7 on 7 nashville tournament this past year.. They had 4 or 5 kids that could flat out fly and Michael H can really sling the ball . Shows how good this west team is because you guys handled a very potent threat offensively in Hillsboro

I don't think he had any offers from SEC teams. LSU, Clemson, Nebraska and a few more schools looked at him. He had a lot of offers from Cinn. Carson Newman, VMI and schools like that. The SEC really did miss out. But he seems to be really happy about Ga. Tech. The classes seem to be as important as the field for him.

Its been a couple of weeks and still cannot believe West completed their journey. It literally took two years to win it. Can't say enough about those young men and the coaching staff for staying focused on the prize.

 

I know West is losing some of its best players in school history but don't count out the young guys coming back. They are just as hungry to try for another one and their schedule is not as difficult as last year.

 

Merry Christmas to everyone on the boards and have a Happy New Year!

Coach Cummings does an outstanding job!  You guys may actually have a shot at winning a region/district title also next year.. :rolleyes:

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
