Mc Rebel Coach just said in public what a vast majority of public school coaches say in private. Is momentum finally gaining for the split, with strong football schools like Trousdale and Lewis Co. speaking up, and long-tenured coaches like Comer going public in rural West Tennessee's biggest newspaper? Interesting article from East Tennessee as well, discussing the 80% winning rate of private schools in that area.

It's cool for Comer to speak on the issue in the paper and tell how he feels. The problem is he lied. He said the were closed zone and they are open zone.

If the reporter was doing even half a decent job he should have asked Comer how he feels about open zoned schools and the advantages they have over closed zone schools.  He can't have it both ways.  Open zoned schools should be lumped into privates schools since they do not have a set zone to recruit from.

OK, so explain to me, how is McKenzie S.S.D. open? Are you telling me a kid from Atwood, Huntingdon, or Bruceton could drive over there every day and play football? I find that hard to believe

Information from their website says if you live outside the district you can still attend by applying to the school 2 weeks in advance and paying a tuition fee.   This is basically similar with most open zoned schools.   However the vote goes in July it well not level the playing field.  It will separate public and private schools,  but the open zoned schools will still have a distinct advantage over schools that play with only the young men and women that are assigned to their school district.  If you want to get closer to "level playing field" then assign all open zoned schools a 1.8 multiplier and remove the "one level up" maximum.

It's true they are open zone. The policy is on their website. I posted the information on the D3 whiners thread on this board. Comer straight up lied in the interview.
