The Red Rebels won tonight in Lenior City  71-64. We made it through the entire game without incident. No punches thrown, people running onto the court or anything. We are still missing Miller. I talked to him after the game and he told me he'll be able to play Tuesday.

How did the team play as a whole? I went to the Bearden game.

Per KNS article posted this afternoon, TSSAA has fined basketball programs at MHS and WBHS $1,500.00 each and placed each program on two years probation for the recent fight. Probation does NOT include a post-season ban. Breakdown of fines are $250 for players leaving bench, $250 for fans coming onto the court, and $1,000 for being put on probation.

In addition to TSSAA penalties, each individual school suspended players ( Maryville two players; WB three players) and fans ( Maryville- one student banned from high school games for remainder or year; WB two students, five game & four game suspensions, respectively, and one adult fan, three game suspension).

Case closed.

P.S. Saw where Red Rebels posted link to article above after I posted...... sorry for the redundancy.

Must have been some money exchanged under the table. York Institute got 2 year ban from post season play from a fight. Guess its who you know or how big your school is.

Its irrelevant to York. I don't know anything about York or even where its at. I personally have no dog in any hunt for any team but York is York, so keep it in York. When you throw accusations you should be able to back them.

Matt, TSSAA sets precedents of how certain situations will be handled and pretty much follow suit until a Maryville is involved. That's what's relevant.

My apologies then. If thats the case then that sucks. Like I said I don't know York but did look it up and it seems to be in Jamestown.

I personally think that York would be more interested in why Pickett County was allowed to play in post-season in York wasnt, thats the 2 Parties that were involved in the same incident and York was suspended from post season and Pickett County was Not....Thats the fight you fight

I'd like you to tell me how many times Maryville has had disciplinary actions brought against them. That is what is relevant here. And what exactly happened in the York incident. Was it a few players and a couple of fans? Or was it both teams and most of the people in the stands?

York incident involved PC student section and York bench and evolved into most of Yorks team and some fans fighting with students and some fans from PC. The PC student section sat behind the York bench and supposedly threw an object and hit a freshman player. He swung 1st punch and then chaos broke loose. No PC players were involved. York received a fine and 2yrs ban on post season play. I think the Maryville/WB punishments were severe enough. I just don't see why the York punishment was so much more severe.

Sounds like there are several areas in the state where kids need to be handed directions to the nearest sign ups for Golden Gloves. If they want to fight, get them in a boxing ring. Maybe a new sport for T$$AA?

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
