Thank you to the Rutherford County School Board and Superintendent Don Odom for your wisdom, extreme courage, grace and mercy towards these coaches. Took a lot of guts to not take the easy road and go with a national lynch mob who called for firing them in the media. 1 year suspension is fair. I can only hope you all that called for their heads never need the grace and mercy of others or God in your lives.

Smyrna principal has already done the right thing and permenantly removed his coach from his position.

Also, maybe the administrators and AD's ought to be present for future athletic events involving their students? Had they been there for this consolation game then this could have been stopped before it ever really got started.

Big Picture - Do what is right and don't hide behind excuses.

So, who's the determiner of right for every 3/4 game in the district tournaments during post season?  How about region finals?  You gotta a guy in mind that's going to scrutinize substitutions, why starters are out and basketball strategy?  In the baseball analogy, are you going to dictate that teams throw one of their top 3 pitchers, maybe set a rotation prior to post season that everybody signs off on.  Who decides what is right?

There are degrees of 'wrong' if you're talking about playing every game to win.  In the current system, coaches absolutely do not make their best effort to win during these post season non elimination games.  They set strategy for the path of least resistance that gets them further along in the tournament.  That's the big picture.

Riverdale is about to go on a huge run for years including next year with an interim coach. Teams are lucky they aren't in the tourney now as they were poised for a huge run in this years tourney.

Yes, against Smyrna they really played like a team that was "poised for a huge run in this year's tourney".

That is laughable considering what transpired.

I guess that is why they were playing in the consolation game.

Seriously though, the one year suspension seems to be fair. I, too, hope they keep their teaching positions and learn from this.
