I have seen Hampton play and I will say this if you think you're going to skate by your going to be taking an early bus ride home every team better come ready to play. Hampton will be in the game till the end that's a fact they don't know the word quit you might beat them but I promise you won't out heart them

Hampton just better be glad it's not at the Thunderdome with that Siren! That Siren is absolutely awesome! What a way to run out to a game! I'm sure the Hampton fans will give the UC fans some good info on their team but I don't think it will matter. The neutral floor will help Hampton but UC has way too many weapons for any 1A team except for Mitchell. Good luck to both teams but I will take UC by 15.

'intense, we dont meet teams like TCA, UC or MM in regular season nor Christmas tournaments around here. We play some high caliber teams in the summer, but we're more in line with the GCA and Meigs teams of the state.

The teams in your neck of the woods could beat some small college teams in this area LOL

Hey, we're just glad to get back there for the second time in a row (3rd time including 2011). We'll leave it ALL on the floor and be happy to play one of the best teams in the state.

UC just got a TOUGH draw. We'll be playing on house money, everything to gain and nothing to lose. UC compares to Johnson City with a 1a enrollment, that pretty much sums it up.

Going to be an uphill battle but if Hampton shoots the "3" ball like they did last night I think they keep the game very respectable! They are a tough group of kids and heck of a ball team!! I will be pullin for the Bulldogs from Meigs County!!

Most 1a schools are small rural schools,UC is a big fish in a small pond. Just glad we have the shot.

Pujo, hated you couldn't make it last night...Our crowd was LOW compared to other sub-state games at HHS...We were no where near as loud either! A lot of people had kids playing last night in the boys and girls youth club tournaments...So I'd say that's where probably 200 people were. I didn't see Cloudland people and other locals...But Elizabethton probably drew alot of them to their gym last night.

Yes it will be...Good for this team that they got to play at the boro last year...We missed a lot of 3's and FT's at the glass house last year against Mitchell.

This is usually a very good 3-pt shooting team that can also go to the hole, so we hope to play UC tough.

I want to say it again, Meigs' players were class acts...After a loss, I have never spoken to nicer, more well mannered kids.

And I have read and heard all the "refs helped Hampton win" stuff, but last night was a BALLGAME that either team could have won.

Bad calls? Without doubt! But on both sides...And both teams battled through it.

Thanks for the props TFL

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
