How would the BGA and Perry County champions from the 90s stack up?

Those 2 teams were outstanding no question. Perry County had Haston at 6'10, a great wing in Chris Jones at 6'5, another post in the Hamm kid at 6'7, and Cory Brown at point. Along with several other good role players. They were a highly skilled offensive team that didnt rely on just Haston. Yes they would dominate today just like they did in 1997. Haston was an All-America and All Big-10 at Indiana for the General Bob Knight.

The BGA team that beat good pasture was outstanding as well. Beating that Goodpasture team was no easy job. But just shows what can happen in a one game situation. Both teams absolutely put on clinics at the State in those years and were fun to watch. Both teams were very well coached by Gary Smith at BGA and Bruce Slatten at Perry County.

That 97 Perry County team plays in the Finals tomorrow vs Mitchell. Haston became a high 1st rd pick by the Hornets. Jones would hve signed with Arkansas if he had had the grades. They had depth and size and the best PG in 1a that yr with the late Cory Brown who would hve been a heckuva NAIA player. Had some high flying wings on that team as well.

Jones gets overlooked. 6'6 and dunked and made 3's. Anyone that doesn't think he and Haston dont dominate today is nuts.

Perry Co in the late 90s went 37-0 and thoroughly dominated everyone including AAA schools. They were led by 6'10" Kirk Haston that went on to play 4 years at Indiana and was drafted by Charlotte.

BGA in the early 90s went back to back in A. They were led by Jeff Vanlandingham, Seth Pettus, and OJ Fleming. Their second title was won by defeating a Goodpasture team that featured a senior Drew Maddux and a junior named Ron Mercer. Goodpasture had previously beaten BGA in their region finals. BGA is perhaps the most fundamentally sound basketball team I have ever seen and tough too. I watched Pettus ball against Mercer with blisters covering both of his palms-it was painful to watch.

Don't forget another SEC player, Sam Howard, who could shoot the lights out,  who played for Goodpasture. So that is 3 SEC players on one team in A and they didn't win the state. Those teams could compete with anyone today!

    • Upperman White County both will be loaded. Dyersbirg and South Side will be a handful as well. Getting about that time in about 3 weeks we start watching summer scrimmages. Dyersburg loaded loaded loaded with talent. Most talent ever I have seen in their program.
    • We, SP, blanked them 10-0 in sectional game during 21 season.
    • The amount of people pooing on UH is crazy. They're a noticably better team than last year when they made state and were competitive , AND they run ruled Eagleville a few weeks ago. Now I understand Eagleville was missing a few guys, but they still. They. Run. Ruled. Eagleville. 1st single A team to run rule Eagleville since when? Pre 2017??
    • If that Yellow Paint is all gone I'll flat bet it didn't wash off there. I bet that took some scrubbing to remove that if it is gone. Lacrosse is one of those northern sports all these misplaced Yankee's that are posion to the community brought in by  (Blount Partnership, ( The Devil) with them so somebody allowed them to paint their markings on the field that cost more than the twenty top people on payroll at Maryville make a year. All this to please the 1% Club and the 25 people that would come to see it. All in the name of WOKE!!!!!!
    • They will probably, struggle
