Not hearing much from all those saying a Big win for Catholic tonight. I said they wont score much on that Larry Slade defense. Everybody needs to take notice, THE BOBCATS ARE FOREAL AND ARE BACK! WAY TO GO BOBCATS!

I gave my props to the Bobcats quickly after the game. Was very impressed with their overall play especially on D.

Most of the Catholic fans that post have commented and given Central props. The others that predicted big wins aren't Catholic fans.

Glad as a Maryville fan to see the Bobcats doing well. Our teams have had some great games over the years and I would love to see Rosser get that program up and running again and I believe he will.

I remember those games in the early 2000s. I used to go to that game every time they played. I want to say one year that really sticks out is when Carl Stewart played for Maryville and Zach Helton played for central. I believe Maryville also had Tyler maples that year and Cade Thompson at QB? I could be mixing up years.

There were some really great Central-Maryville games in the late-1990s to mid-2000s. I think those were the two best teams in the state during that time. Usually very close games, but Maryville would edge Central every time.

Maryville had great players in Ryan Tallent, Tyler Maples, Aaron Douglas, Cade Thompson, Tanner Caylor, etc. & Central had great talent with Zach Helton, Cassen Jackson-Garrison, David Gaston, Shavar Young, Terrance Scott, Orlando Blair, A.J Nance, etc.

Central lost to Maryville 24-28 in 2002, 24-27 and 25-28 (playoffs) in 2003, 24-35 (playoffs) in 2004, & 14-17 and 23-33 (playoffs) in 2005.

Hopefully Coach Rosser will have Knox Central competitive again & competing against top competition.

I understand Maryville has achieved unbelievable things & that they're the best team in the STATE every single year, no doubt.

BUT, since you said mid 1990s to 2000s , Central BEAT Maryville in 1999 in the state Quarterfinals.

Yeah I know it looks weird, because of all the times we got beat by Maryville. (Some which were won and gave away).

I believe Central also beat Maryville the following year during the 2000 season (21-14).

I think you're correct. I was looking at the TN High School Football Database. And searched Maryville and by Playoff games (it list every single playoff game in year order). It looks like the last time Maryville didn't make the playoffs was 1996. That's so crazy

    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
