Well Bobkat seemed to strike a nerve? Is that a yes to the question? Wow you seem to know me so well!!too bad thru all that garbage you just posted you didn't answer the question? As far as the post I do have class and therefore won't respond to it. However since you do know me so well I will be glad to meet up and discuss my personal reasons, character or anything else you want to talk about face to face. Just hit me up since we know each other so well.

Maybe I am in the dark but didn't the Eighth graders come to work out with you all when you coached? Was it illegal then? Lol... I don't know what has or has not been violated therefore I cannot answer your questions from your initial post. I bet you won't have to wait long though before all former coaches and their followers share whatever has or has not occurred. Strange through you were quick to post "what you heard" but then you are "too classy" to answer to what I heard? I am not going to get to an argument on here with you and I will certainly decline any meeting with you. I am ready for the former coaches to move on and stop meddling in Bobcat football. As a longtime fan and follower, I want nothing but these boys to have a good, fairly competed season. I certainly hope OC and company will compete fairly. If they are not shame on them. But cheating comes in many forms--- to me, getting paid to coach football and putting in lackluster effort and not preparing your team is cheating too.....good night, sir. I am done with this thread. I am just disappointed to know that you would choose to jump on here at the first opportunity you get when you get "wind of something" from your former coaching buddies and then get offended when somebody resents your pot stirring. Leave these boys alone--- it will be no skin off of you if they get caught in violations. God forbid they work hard and go far this season. They already went through years of not being prepared to win.

See BobKat you don't know as much as you like to think you do. First off, I know for a fact that 8th graders were not bused over to workout while Walt was HC.Second As far as what is going on at Giles I was asked by someone at a scrimmage recently about the rumor and also have had a few text from area coaches asking if I have heard anything so don't let it be ASSUMED that it was former staff members that are feeding that info! As a result I just asked the question? I knew in asking I would probably hear from the minions and catch some heat no big deal but don't like personal attacks. My daddy taught me if you gonna question a man's character be man enough to look him in the eye and do it. As for GC I wish nothing but the best for the KIDS playing at GC alot of good quality young men there. As far as the former coaches you like to bash, I know again for a FACT you have no clue. All this didn't practice past 5:00, didn't work hard garbage is all nonsense. Here is some examples The football players had workouts 4 days a week during Off-season, Walt held speed school two nights a week from January till April, practices ran from 3:15 till at least 5:45-6:00 with exception of Thursdays during season. Summer workouts were 3 days a week in June for two hours each day an hour of lifting and hour of conditioning with players having two sessions they could attend so coaches were actually there 4 hours each of those days. They went to Multiple July 7 on 7s including overnight trips to Alcoa and Maryville College. Throw in the Sunday film sessions with the players starting at 2 pm then coaches film and game plan that ran from 4:00-4:30 on Sundays until they were done which typically was 7:00-7:30 as well. So to say those guys didnt give up time and work is a straight up lie. Those guys you like to bash are great men of character who are also great coaches who cared about winning but also doing things the right way. Funny how all those folks complain about Walt and his short practices. Gary Rankin once said if you keep kids out on the practice field more than 2 1/2 hours you are spinning your wheels and wasting time. Also know another coach who has coached in 8 state title games who does not believe in ever practicing longer than 2 hours. He said It is not about the time you are out there it is how you spend your time.Everyone has their own philosophy. It just difficult for me to understand how you knew so much about Walt's staff, their inner workings, and what they were doing not doing but yet don't know what is going on with OC and staff? Oh well lol

Spring ball just started? Word I have been hearing up my way is them boys been practicing since late Feb./early March. Also a hearing they been busing 8 th graders over to work out which is against TSSAA rules. So I am asking if it is rumor or is the staff at Giles already back to their old tricks? Inquiring minds want to know!

LOL

Really wardawg?  Is coacht your official spot for info.  You of all people know what this site is all about.  As for some of your other comments about length of practice by Rankin and others,  I am sure Rankin only put in 2 hrs. but I will guarantee the other coaches put in more plus their level of athletes is a little better than most. Both of my boys played for each staff and I have respect for both staffs in the way they coached and treated my kids, so I have no hard feelings at all.  That's all of the pigeon feeding I am going to do on this matter.  I am like you in a way, I'd rather speak face to face.  So if you and the old coaching staff get together for a card game, just give me a shout.  GO BOBCATS!!!

Bob Jones scrimmage is on...down there. Playing up is what OC does. Several kids (in double digits) have already quit in the first week of spring ball lol... Don't know about all this cheating stuff but this staff will not be out worked.

Thanks to Stew, I guess you now know.

After the 2012 season, O’Connor resigned to take the Buckhorn (AL) job and Walt Smith was hired and had to deal with the two years probation which included a $1,000 dollar fine, no 7 on 7 activities and no weight training and conditioning in 2013 as well as a reduction in fall and spring scrimmages in both 2013 and 2014, as well as no jamboree in 2014.

And now we know the truth as to why Walt Smith struggled so bad...he had to pay the price for OC misdeeds before Walt even got there. GC gave Walt a raw deal in ignoring that fact. Sad reality for Giles County......

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
