Henry County @ Centennial

With those two defenses, home field gives Centennial the advantage in a 3-2 win.

Ha - you may be right there BT. a baseball score.

I know both of these Defenses are very good, but both offensive are good also - just not 'very good'. I don't think either offense will get completely shut down, and both will find limited success. I believe turnovers/penalties could play a big role in this one.

Looking forward to the trip to Franklin.

GO BIG RED

I think that Centennial probably is the favorite at home, but I also think that Henry County would be the favorite if the game was played here. I agree with BigRedRealist, this game could go either way with one penalty or one turnover being the difference. Henry County always seems to thrive in big games. We'll see in 24 hours.

GameDay is upon us! Kind of crazy that its the last regular season game of the year. The weather appears to be perfect, if not on the cool side a bit. Looking for the Patriots to come out strong and make their presence known early in a classic gridiron battle with the Cougars! Region Championship up for grabs, playoff seeding and homefield advantage in play, a matching of the wits with two great coaching staffs, what more can you ask?!?!? Without further adieu...

Everyone knows it to be true. The Big Red will travel to a middle TN school, line up with a fullback (which they rarely see) and run the ball down the throats of the cougars. HC has won 2 state titles by running the football and playing great defense , so this is just another step in the process.

HC 35 Centennial 14

Right On, Hero!!! You just said it all...HC knows how to take care of business in the big games....and running the ball and stopping the run are the ingredients of this proven champion.

Yeah those midstate teams never see fullbacks.  5A/6A midstate football might be the softest classification of football in the state....

If I had to pick this game based solely on stats and matchups, I'd lean towards Centennial. A lot of intangibles factor into any game though, and I've got too much faith in HC in a big-time game. No way there's over 45 total points unless there's a bunch of turnovers.  Probably closer to 35. Something like 17-15 HC.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
