Dresden verses Carver

Carver wins... Dresden coming a long long way... Isn't this a 2 hour bus ride?

Let me assure you that the Dresden players respect the team they are playing. They're not making the 2 hr bus trip just expecting a win. Dresden also has a lot of fans making the trip. Wish Carver & some of the other Memphis schools would get the fan support as well. Can't imagine how hard it is playing without people supporting you.

And I wish for world peace, somethings r just out of our control. Hopefully with this success will come more support. The turnaround that has happened since they have gotten some winners on the sidelines speaks volumes.

I think people on the smaller boards are more open with it cause they're not used to us coming on here with a response. EXACTLY Bruh... These "West Tenn" folks don't know that Ced Wilson (yeah the former Vol and Steeler) is on this staff... Not to mention my former neighbor Joe Harris, is the head coach... He was on the Staff at Melrose when they went to the State Title Game 3 years in a row in the Mid 90s. Thus the reason Ced Wilson (The QB on at least 2 of those teams) is his OC.

 

I did not realize that Ced Wilson is the OC at Carver. I also did not realize that Joe Harris was on coach Tim Thompson's staff when Melrose went to back-to-back-to-back state championship games from 96-98 when at Melrose.

 

That just explains EVERYTHING. THAT'S why they had the 1 year turn-around.

 

I don't know if Carver beats Dresden THIS year. We will see ... that's why they play the games. BUT ... this I know. With coach Joe Harris and coach Ced Wilson at Carver ... and coach Tim Thompson at KIPP. 1A football in Memphis will be making noise in years to come ... and soon, one of them will be the team to beat. Coach Thompson is in his 2nd year ... at a charter school. Coach Harris and coach Wilson are in their fist year. Both programs will have each other to beat and get seeding ... Things are about to chamge in 1A. If Carver and KIPP can keep these coaches then both programs will be forces to reckon with in 1A. Both programs will build and develop defenses to match their offenses in the future ... bank on it.

 

Man ... i'm excited about 1A football ... go figure!

Lol I see it all the time, most times I ignore it but sometimes I like the entertainment. These boards get very entertaining come playoff time.

Only to respond to the guys who are wondering what I meant by "Get in and get out". It's simple actually. When I was in high school back in the 80"s my school played a playoff game in Memphis. While we were doing our warm ups there was gunfire just outside the stadium. I can still hear the shots. Our coach told all of us to get down. We did as he said. We had police escorts to and from the game. Yep. So as a young man that left a lasting impression on me. What would you think if you came to one of our small towns and experienced the same? So turn it or twist it anyway you want. I'm only going on my experience. Simple.

As a person that played and Coached in Memphis I resent that you would act like that is common place... You experienced ONE fluke event and are on here painting the city as if its a war zone. You have no right.

Harris Been at Carver for a while now tho... They have been making the playoffs but when you have a person like Ced Wilson on staff that type stuff gives the Kids So much more confidence... Dude was a for real contributor on a Super Bowl winner. I'm believing EVERYTHING he tells me about football.

If I came to a small town and during a football game I was preparing for I heard gunshots in a neighborhood outside the stadium it would be in the back of my mind but I wouldn't let it affect my travel plans there over twenty years later unless someone got shot or I maybe witnessed something bad happen. I wouldn't suggest that other people be in fear because my 20 year old experience, but that's me. I hate that the experience traumatized you and left that as your overall impression of Memphis. Hopefully this one will be better for you and you actually get to enjoy our great city, but as for the game on the field; I hope its horrible for u guys, lol! ðŸ‘ðŸ¾
