In the 2000 season Maryville had the counterfeit thing. That was a huge distraction. Plus half the starters were sophomores.

It's a good thing that those suspensions for counterfeiting ended the week of the Alnwick game.

Geeker loses that one and they burn the Skeeter to the ground.

They had already lost to Alcoee and were shut out by A&M.

George Quarles has a 237 - 15 record at Maryville High School with 11 State Titles and 4 runner ups in 17 seasons. Can't believe anyone would question George Quarles. He started out 10-7 in his career. Since that 10-7 start George has led Maryville to a 227-8 record.

People sure were questioning him after that 0-4 start in 2000 if I recall correctly, and even GQ himself admitted he wasn't sure how much longer he would last after starting 10-7.

 

But he lasted all right.
