He texted me Sat.Not much to look forward to at GCA this year lost alot and didn't get any help this year. They will still be a team to watch out for i think but who really knows.

sounds like that region is really down then. Austin East might not have a close game until playoffs

I sometimes wonder if AE would have a harder time in say 1A Region 2 than it will in 2A region they are in. With no competition AE should put up some good stats which will help their QB Harper with post season honors.

Greenback by 24

Coalfield by 14

Rockwood by 16

Jellico by 10

Oneida by 21

Harriman by 6

Wartburg by 2

I think if there's an upset in any of these it could be Copper Basin over Coalfield. They just always seem like they come to play when they play Coalfield. I don't see the upset happening, but if it were to, you heard it here first!

Jellico beat Hancock County by 29 last year and have a much better team this year. Will win by 40+ points.

I think it would be a little better competition. Coalfield might beat them, but Harriman, GB, Oneida and the rest of region 2-A wouldn't stand a chance. Coalfield and AE gonna be playing for gold balls in case you haven't heard

There is no way Coalfield would beat AE, they would compete in the region but they would finish behind AE, Grace, and would stand a good chance on losing to a Sweetwater or Rockwood team. The weekly grind day in and day out is tough. They would take a more physical beating week in and out in 2a.

That was a sarcastic quote man! No way Coalfield beat AE.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
