I agree with you. They are friends so I look for him to eventually join him at McCallie. ChickenDave said it right about this job. They need someone that is from the tristate area that maybe has local appeal and will stay for a long while. They need stability for their future. The article says 10 coaches in 20 years. They need someone that will stay 10-20 years.

Should have gave Pruitt his money

This is probably going to start a riot but being that I'm in the know just a little bit, I was told of one of the candidates for the job. I was told by someone close to the program there that they wanted CWS. Needless to say I didn't believe it being he bleeds orange, now with traces of blue in it. It kind of pissed me off, but that's what I was told. That person told me that CWS was approached last time too prior to CRR. Anyone on here from MC know of this? It's gonna make OP and RD real mad if true.

He's had a little purple in him was originally at Jasper Middle at one point in time, but don't see him taking it.

Yeah I remember that when he first started. I don't think he would either. I would imagine he is making more at Boyd than he would in this county. But you never know. I'm sure just like any other young assistant they want to someday be a Head Coach. Sometimes you gotta do what's best for you and your family. I'm sure HC in MC makes AS MUCH or more than an assistant coach in small private like Boyd

the reason for 10 in 20 years is because, they been chasing SP since their last Gold in 94. They will give a coach a couple of seasons to beat big brother. Ross did it and was very secure but chose to better himself. He came in and got them going for gold again. The other coaches were just going for a win against the Pirates. Ross built a contender and SP was just a side note to a good season. That's what they should look for in a coach search, a contender mindset not a just beat the team down the road.

Old Pirate says, SP loves to beat big brother and obviously if that is accomplished the season has been successful but not getting to the dance is never an acceptable goal. Jasper will be a eye catcher for prospective coaches. Jest knowing the feuding goes on 12 months a year between kinfolkes is a huge drawing card.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
