Well, it's had a day to sync in and no one is saying too much. I've seen a couple of names thrown around on here. Personally, I hope they give it to the coach already there. I would really hate to see one of our own go to Jasper. I'm hoping this talk isn't serious and he wouldn't go. Now, is Coach Helton a candidate as well as someone told me earlier?

Barney, Old Pirate went to the courthouse yesterday & noticed the lack of need for skeeter & Circle Fly repellant. Figure it'll be a rite smart easier to support them Jasper kinfolkes now that theys ain't any private school fellers disturbing us country fellers !

My apologies Pirate Mike. I haven't had an English lesson in about 30 years. Forgive me for the misuse.

No problem, we all tend to use text lingo in everything we type. We all understood and overlooked it. I'm just afraid the more we do it, our kids will also do it. By the time they are adults like us they won't be able to write or type or say a coherent sentence that is old timers will even understand.

Wasn't Coach Rice from Wayne County a strong candidate for this job two years ago but took his name out of consideration when he learned he wasn't the first choice ( Ross ) ?

 

And Coach Rice was said to be joining Coach Creasy's staff at Oakland last year by a Wayne County insider but backed out at the last moment. Reason given on here was his son wanted to stay at Wayne County. I believe QB Rice will be a Senior this coming year.

 

Not trying to rile up any of the WC fans - just throwing this out there - just wondering.

And I realize WC is gonna have a very good team this coming season.

My understanding is that if coach Mathis wants the job its his. The kids love the guy and that would be the least disruptive move for all concerned. Hes seems to like the community and is much less likely to be a two and done. I feel like most associated with the program would see him as a great choice and I know the kids would support it. The team has a great deal of talent coming back and should be one of the top two or three teams in the east next year.

Well that shows about the kids with the signs through town..says a lot about how they feel about the guy. Seems to be sold on the community since he's made a purchase in the Jasper Highlands. We shall see though. Think that would be our best bet

I garuntee you this Mathis man was far more committed than the SOS. The SOS filled him full of mess. You think im joking but im not.

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
