workinprogress
Just curious if someone can fill me in on the specifics of this job. What are the kids like, parents, teachers and admin, the community. How are the facilities. What are realistic expectations. In others words, what kind of shape is the overall program in. They don't have numbers at all even though you'll hear that they have SEC future stallworths in the halls of the school. The first two head coaches in the schools history have been doomed from the start. They do however have a middle school coach who you would think is the second coming of Bill Walsh or Vince Lombardi. He should have been named the coach years ago and if it ain't his show then it must be tainted. The expectations are that they should be playing Alcoa for the Class 3A State Championship in December. They should beat Fairview & Camden. They should beat CPA in the playoffs . They should beat either Milan or Liberty in the semifinals. They should dethrone Alcoa as the beast of 3A. workinprogress
In other words LBD it's not worth the hour drive both ways. Haha the job has my curiosity. Fairly new school. County setting. Is there anything at all positive.

This is one of the last places in the state I would coach at. LBD couldnt have put it any better. I'd rather coach at any memphis or Nashville inner city school than at east. ath
I'm pretty sure no one has ever said that East Hickman should be playing for state championships. I did say they should be competing at the top of this district. LBD posts that there are no numbers to speak of but two days earlier he comments on this past years QB reminded him of Johnny football with all the plays and yards he accumulated. Two out of the last three years the MVP of offense in the district has came from East. In 2013 Trey Phillips one of the most talented athletes in the midstate won it and in 2015 QB Jacob Stone. The talent is here and always has been to be a playoff team year in and year out. Now being a playoff team doesn't mean you have to be ranked in the top 10 in the state. Generally being 6-4 or 7-3 will get you in.I've made the comparising of Waverly turning there program around in one year after a coaching change. I think the same thing could happen here with a good coaching staff. Something the Eagles have never had since it opened in 2007.

ath
Ath what's the support like, facilities, players, parents, etc. As I posted that this could be a really good job for someone. The facilities and the support the parents and community has showed even through some disappointed years should be proof of that. With the school being less than 10 years old all the facilities are nice. A large stadium with plenty of seating on both sides and a full size practice field. A very involved and supported booster club. Always a good crowd at the games.
