Best Teams in Class AA

I'm putting Chester County over Lexington, possibly even Southside.

What does Chester have besides Pipkin, who can really fill it up? They lost the shooter that came from mcnairy and the black kid that rebounded well for them. I believe the lil guard will be decent but i dont foresee them beating Lexington or Southside

Chester County must have some transfers. They have Pipkin and Boyle at guard, but they lost pretty much everybody else. Haywood will be average. I actually am picking them third in 15-AA. I think Covington and Liberty will be better this year, and Shutes has too big of a load to carry

Westview didnt look the same without Jones and Im not sure if yo had the scores mixed on the board or the teams, but South Side blew Haywood out by like 20. Haywood just stood around and watched an unhealthy Shutes try to do everything.

Maybe I was told the wrong score in ss game, did see them play 3 games at bethel and they looked decent and won all 3, especially for summer time. Had 2 guards that hit several threes from the corners to help shutes. I was told shutes is healthy and she looked good when I saw her play. Westview when they combined their teams looked very good. Most of the time I think they had them split up. A full westview team with or without Jones is still very good.

Could be, what I was told by someone very close to the program is that it's just a growing pain issue and she's fine. For Haywood's and the kids sake hope it's nothing serious. Very talented kid.

 

What about Dyersburg? Saw them play a game last week and they look like they have really fallen off and not much in the freshmen group. Crockett didn't look great either vs. Peabody. Don't get to watch these teams that much.

My dad works with Dedrick Boyd's dad from Haywood, who i think is related to Shutes. Says she had her knee scoped to clean it up and Bethel was her first time playing in 2 months. He said that she wasnt comfortable.

I dont get the hype with Westview this year.  I dont think they will be as good as predicted.  Last year Westview barely beat Chester County in region semi's and the only reason Westview pulled it out was because of Jones.  Of course, Jones will not be there this year neither the defensive specialist Vincent.  Westview is coached well but I dont think they have what it takes to go back to state without those two components.

 

Your dark horses for this year will be South Gibson and Dyersburg.  Both showed well in district and region tournament last year.  They have some talented players in King for SG and Thompson for DG. Both teams have added some good role players and Scott is a beast at SG.

This year in AA it's truly wide open. I have 8 teams who I think can make substate and another 3-4 that can shock some people.

I would imagine Westview is still the team to beat out of this area even with the loss of Tasia. She will be back before district tournaments so the losses they take during the season won't be a good indication of how good they really are.

 

Dyersburg has a chance to be good. They're one of the most talented teams in this area, it's just a matter of the players coming out and being consistent every night. They return the majority of their team from last year and have a chance to be really good this year. They did just beat Chester by 20 the other day at UTM team camp.

 

South Side should win that district I would think. They got the transfer from McNairy, return Cunningham and Curry, and Quanardra will be even better with a year of high school experience behind her. Lexington and Chester both lost some key players so the verdict is still out on how good those two teams will be.

The key word for Dyersburg is indeed consistent. They beat Chester by 20 at UTM and loss to South Side by double digits at Middleton and didnt look like a team thats returning everyone.

I'll add that Union City and Peabody beat Dyersburg the last couple of weeks during the summer. 2nd place will be wide open in this district between SG, Dyersburg and Crockett.
