Did Rankin call plays back in the"old days?"

Yes, and that's why a BUNCH of folks question how he Coached the last game with Oak Ridge. Here is a coach that normally called 95% run and 5% or LESS pass suddenly calling the same option pass play for losses for 3 of 4 downs in one series. This is especially true in that we had the Mr. Football RB running well and NOT being called on.

 

It was bad enough that he had a couple of his assistants both fuming and crying on the side lines!

 

The defense was called by some VERY good coordinators over the years. One was so good he BEAT Rankin his first year as a HC at Brentwood in the Gold Ball game!

 

Rankin's main talent is gathering VERY good assistants on staff and paying attention to DETAILS and having EVERY player doing drills for EVERY minute of practice. NO BODY got to stand around with either their heads or thumbs up their ...........tails!

Yes it was Coach Collins along with Coach Crawford's son in law.  You may remember him as he became Oaklands Head Coach the next year and won a Gold Ball for Oakland.

 

Seeing a NEED to emphasize DEFENSE now?  Shame our last HC never could.

 

I am not only elephant sized, I have a great memory still for important things.  Also turning grayer by the day.  LOL

7 on 7 on Tuesday the 14th at Riverdale. Its should give some insight on the QB situation. The receiving corps should be top notch Campbell, Barge and Bonds.

Thats a good 7V7 tournament Summit's been attending for the past 3 years..... should be interesting to see how they stack up against some of the big boys..... Well run, good time looking forward to it....

Coach Collins is a good guy! Most of the coaches Riverdale had and have are good ones! GO WARRIORS!!!
