Region 4 1A

Recommended Posts

Some pretty good players in this region. Who will go to the playoffs and who will win the region?

I think it's between Columbia Academy & Fayetteville again this season for that number one spot.

Fayetteville only lost I believe, 5 Seniors and return almost all of the starting skill players except #10. CA will have to replace their top 2 rushers from last yr and top 3 WR's. They will be replacing a LOAD of talent with #1, #8, #44 (they had 70+ TD's last yr). They got to replace the top 2 tacklers from that Def and that great Kicker they had, #1 who nailed something like 80 PAT's in '15. It will be very tough to try n replace those guys! I think CA will still be a really good team again but I believe this will be the year Fayetteville takes the top spot!

Top 4 from Region 4:

1. Fayetteville

2. Columbia Academy

3. Huntland

4. Mt. Pleasant

It wouldn't be to crazy to think Grace or maybe even Stown could somehow sneak into that top 4. After looking at this region a little more it is apparent that the #3 & #4 spots are wide open.

Fayetteville lost almost their entire offensive line and the big defensive end/RB (#1 I think) transfered to Marshall County. I kinda think this region will be a pick em if everyone can stay healthy.

I think it's #2 your referring to transferring. And I had no idea they lost that many O lineman. You may be right about it being a toss up. I'm anxious to see how teams like Grace and Summertown do this year.

Summertown is working hard. Coach Mote was a God send to begin the varsity process. O-line and D-line again will be the big question marks. Returning all skilled players this year from last years team. Has anyone heard about any Moore Co scrimmages?

I haven't heard anything from MC but I expect them to finish in the bottom 2 or 3 of this Region. They lost a lot... I believe around a dozen or so players and their top 3 skill players including QB on offense along with a couple of their best LB's. I think Stown and Grace will beat them this season. But that's just my opinion and don't mean that much!!

Didn't they fire the HC also?

Don't count out mtp, they may take the district this year

You really think they got the tools to win this region? I got them as a 3 or 4 seed. I think Fayetteville will win it but no doubt MtP could pull it off!

I know they are replacing a Ton of players though. Like Warsnley, Crawford, Brown Bullock & Russell. That's both of their QB's, that stud RB and a couple heavy hitters on Defense. They do have a great looking freshman QB though, he looks like the real deal! I know they only have around 22-25 kids on the team too which will make it tough! They got a great coach who is doing a very good job sorting out the true football players from the ones who are just showing up.

I believe 1 and 2 will be Fayetteville and Columbia Academy, in that order. 3 and 4 should be Mt Pleasant and Huntland, but the seeding will be a toss up. After 4, I think there will be a little more separation between the top 4 and bottom

Almost exactly how I viewed this region too. The separation from 4 to 5 & 6 will IMO be a big difference.

i believe Fayetteville, CA, or Huntland each have a good shot at the number one position in the region. i think MTP can compete with each of those teams as well but will have to do it with only 3 seniors and replacing some great backs to graduation but they looked good in the spring. Not sure about Summertown or GCA but i look for both teams to compete for a playoff spot. i also dont know much about MC or Cornersville this year.

Go Tigers

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
