I've selected 18 games for the inaugural 2016 Big Games in Memphis activity. Those of you who participate know how we do this. Be careful because there are Thursday night games, as well as, Friday and Saturday night games. Don't miss out and start your season off on a wrong note. The first half of the season is critical in being a top performer. If you get behind in the beginning, it is hard to catch up. As is our custom, these games involve schools that are in the Memphis area, be it private or public school. With that being said the following are the games that have been selected to be in the first week of BGIM for 2016:

 

Games being played on Thursday, August 18, 2016:

 

Game 1: KIPP vs Memphis Overton @ Melrose

 

Games being played on Friday, August 19, 2016:

 

Game 2: Kirby @ Arlington

Game 3: White Station @ CBHS

Game 4: Millington @ Bolton

Game 5: Briarcrest @ ECS

Game 6: MAHS @ Brighton

Game 7: St. Benedict @ Collierville

Game 8: East @ Cordova

Game 9: Humbolt vs Fairley @ J.P. Freeman

Game 10: Lausanne @ Germantown

Game 11: Ridgeway @ Houston

Game 12: Manassas @ Center Hill (MS)

Game 13: Pope John Paul II @ Melrose

Game 14: MUS @ Central (Crump Stadium)

Game 15: Munford @ Covington

Game 16: Raleigh Egypt @ Lewisburg (MS)

 

Games played on Saturday, August 20, 2016:

 

Game 17: Mitchell @ Whitehaven ... @ 8:00 PM (Whitehaven Classic)

Game 18: KIPP vs Trezevant @ Crump ... @ 7:30 PM (North Memphis Classic)

 

 

Yes ... again, KIPP plays back to back games in one week end just like they did last year. So, this Saturday night we will have the Kansas State dual-threat QB commit, Dwayne Betts with 1A - KIPP (coached by Tim Thompson) playing against the Clemson RB commit, Cordarian Richardson with 2A - Trezevant (coached by Telli White). Man ... that's going to be a good one.

 

Ah ... so many choices ... :rolleyes:

On another note, I'm assuming that you will be at the Whitehaven Classic this year. If my memory serves me correctly, I offered to buy you a hot dog and a soda at last year's Whitehaven Classic, but we never could hook up. That offer still stands sir. I'd be honored to do the same at this year's Whitehaven Classic. How about it?

KIPP DOESN'T REALLY PLAY TWO GAMES. TECHNICALLY IT'S ONE GAME AND THEY HAVE A PRACTICE SESSION WITH OVERTON TO GET THERE SPIRIT BACK UP. IT'S TRUE IT'S D_M TRUE...

 

I knew that Overton had been bad in the past, but I had no idea how long they have been this bad, Oh my goodness.

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
