Most of them have 9th and 10th grades playing. Outside of the 4 and Mcgavock and Stratford

This is terrible. Whatthehell is happening to our kids these days. Damncomputets!

Football practice for the most part is work and not fun, Only fun is playing. Work is not something kids these days are willing to do. All the news about concussions has discouraged many parents to let their kids play. Edited September 27, 2018 by runtheball

More likely hands-off parenting. Two things about private schools that give them an edge (besides "recruiting"). First, when money is in the equation people have a greater incentive to get involve. Second, many private schools require their student to engage in organized sports throughout their time there. So private schools tend to have full roosters. Public school parents don't have any skin in the game (beyond their property taxes). So there's less encouragement from parents to go out for sports, especially if there hasn't been any aptitude shown by middle school. On the other hand, roosters are often full in rural schools because those schools represent the community their serve. It's not just a place they go to. Damncomputets! leads to another question, depending on how the NFL handles concussions going forward depends a lot on how amateur sports will be going forward. Its already less kids playing high school sports and its only going to get smaller.. also im surprised high school athletes haven't gone on the wave about them getting paid like (its coming sooner than expected) because TSSAA is making money off of them. We have big problems coming very soon and the concussion issue is one of the first.
bleacher
Yeah good points but kids today are also softer in general. There are exceptions of course, but as a whole kids are softer now. They stay inside and they're not tough. Most are raised this way by their soft sensitive parents. When I grew up the neighborhood raised us and we were forced to be tough. It was ingrained in us to be tough. football was the primary Proving Ground for that toughness, other than fist fights. kids today don't even fight. If things don't change, our next generation will be speaking Russian or Arabic.

Lol for kids to be raised by soft and sensitive parents, those parents had to become that way from someone else.

Soft parenting came from too much single parenting, and the fear of being accused of parental abuse.
