I wouldn't be surprised if GB went 2A!

The only thing to stop them from going 2A would be the TSSAA and an issue with number of teams in 1A

2A would then be MUCH more interesting

Until they win another gold ball or two I don't see any reason to move up. GB already plays several games up a class or two. I would rather see more local games scheduled while they are 1A, most of which are much larger schools. McMinn County, Decatur, Rhea County, Walker Valley are a few that come to mind. Not much incentive for these schools to play GB with the real chance they could lose but assuming GB can maintain the levels of play in coming years, the stigma of losing to a smaller school will fade for larger schools and should they win , others will know they beat a good football team. Pretty much the case when Alcoa plays up. Not saying GB is at the Alcoa level but you get the idea.

IF TSSAA moves them to region-1 1A, Moving up to 2A makes it better for them

i hope we go 2a instead of playing those teams....cloudland would be about the only challenge we might have on a yearly basis

I don't think any half decent team wants to go up to that region to play. What positive things are you really giving your football program making that move aside from a free pass to the playoffs every year playing less than inferior competition with the exception of Cloudland.

I hate to say it but I'll have to agree with sports writer....no way in heck would I would want to play in that region...theres nothing to prove in it...now if cloudland could get back to there early 2000s status then it would be them and gba k every year for the region championship

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
