pujo
But what I'm saying is that aside from '97-'01 when Unaka and Cloudland moved up to play in the old Watauga Conference, they have ALWAYS had to travel. Why would now make any difference. This is pretty much the same situation that caused to move the other time.
uknoit2
If Hampton had the numbers to be in 1A, I'd be pushing to move up...No money, support, competition in reg-1 1A
creekerballer
also.... from what I hear, if things don't change up on the Creek there's a good chance Unaka may not have a team. when we get a new head coach next year I say we get a few more kids out and will still field a team. I'm with creeker...IF they get a coach wanting to improve the atmosphere up there and make the effort to get the kids out to play, Unaka will field a team....But if the decision makers don't go after a real coach, it may be over
lakecounty1968
I think both Greenback and Cloudland will have more success in the 1A playoffs than in the 2a playoffs. Travel is an issue for alot of schools in the state. In football you only have to travel 5 games a year minus playoffs. With small regions teams can schedule big games outside region without affecting playoff positions. Scheduling bigger schools outside of region will help make up for lost gate money against a lesser opponent.

A 1A Coalfield or Greenback team will be as difficult for a Cloudland type team in the playoffs as would a 2A Sweetwater. But in the end, they'd have money in the bank by being in 2A

TTUBOBCAT
No difference in the 1a and 2a playoffs. little difference at all! greenback, coalfield, harriman, midway, are all well coached teams who are there year in and out. i bet it cost 6 to eight 8 hundred dollars a kid to dress one for the year in everything now days. Gates are important too.
lakecounty1968
No difference in the 1a and 2a playoffs. Not so sure about that. The depper you go the more depth becomes a factor. In 1A in the east the first two or three rounds are easy. Not in the west however but to each their own.
