SportsnetWriter2
If no one is shifting eastward. This is an example of what it will look like. Regions with 4 or 5 teams and some with 8 or 9 teams. Region 1 Cloudland Jellico Unaka Hancock Co Region 2 Coalfield Sunbright Oakdale Midway Oliver Springs Harriman Greenback Region 3 South Pitt Whitwell Lookout Valley Sale Creek Copper Basin Region 4 Red Boiling Springs Pickett Co Clay Co Gordonsville Monterey Region 5 McEwen JoByrns Republic Franklin Grace Region 6 Collinwood Wayne Co Cornersville Perry Co Mt Pleasant Richland Huntland Moore County Fayetteville Region 7 Lake Co Greenfield Gleason South Fulton Humboldt Dresden West Carroll Huntingdon Bruceton Region 8 KIPP Freedom Prep Memphis Middle College Hillcrest Westwood Middleton BT Washington Oakhaven That would be absolutely horrid!! lakecounty1968
I really hope the tssaa does not have a four team region. Some schools and fans will have to get over the travel issues and not playing in certain regions. Not really fair for some schools to have 8 or 9 team region while others have 4. EastTNFBall
I take back what I said about Cloudland not going 2A. I'm hearing it may be a possibility. The only way they will be able to move up is if a 2A school agrees to move down.

BlueDevil58
It's a joke for Unaka, Cloudland, and Hancock to drive PAST OS and Harriman to get to Oakdale. Oakdale should be Region 2. Period. And you can't have a 5 team region, just not fair for the rest of the state. This is what makes the most geographical sense. If teams are going to have to drive 120 miles plus, give the the shortest drives you possibly can. This is what it SHOULD be. 1A: Cloudland, Hancock, Unaka, Jellico, Greenback, Oliver Springs. 2A: Harriman, Oakdale, Sunbright, Midway, Coalfield, Monterey. There were 5 team and even 4 team regions under the old system and they've been there for years, even when other schools had to play 8 and 9 team regions in other places. The TSSAA doesn't care that much about being fair. Anything over a 5 team region for Class 1A is senseless if they're going to do it that way. lakecounty1968
Lake County is used to playing in big regions with schools twice our size. LC makes the playoffs awhole lot more than most. So it will be what it will be.
ItsAlwaysSunnyInAtwood
I find it comical myself that so many ppl who pushed for the smallest 32 to be 1A, are griping about travel in the new proposed regions

Not fair for some schools to have 8 or 9 team regions and others have 5, but they've done it for years. Every year there were 6-4 and 5-5 teams sitting at home in November while 5 team districts would send 1-9 or 2-8 teams to the playoffs as #4 seeds.
