Gerry, if Alcoa does move up how do you see it affecting the conferences?

Do you know why they want to move up? Less travel?

Less travel yes, but with 3 teams within 10 miles of the school (Springfield, Greenbrier, and White House) going 4A it makes sense logistically as well and then Portland is just up the road as well. The rivalries will only intensify being in the same region. The way White House is growing they would be 4A in four years anyway. This move makes financial sense as well with all the good gates the school will get from this region.

I watched them play 4 times last year and realize they are very talented but once again Alcoa is a different animal.

Pearl has traditionally played one of the toughest schedules in the state including MBA the past couple of years.

It was reported today that the Alcoa AD is seriously considering moving up to 4A.

Dyersburg

Lexington

Liberty

North Side

Obion Co

Craigmont

Crockett Co

Fayette Ware

Haywood

Kirby

Hardin Co. would go east instead of west in this scenario. I'm not sure how West Tenn works otherwise. I cant see the TSSAA dividing 14 or 15 schools into 3 regions.

Why would the Crossville (Stone, Cumberland) teams not play in Knoxville. They are, what, forty miles away. That is their news source. Can someone explain why they play in Chattanooga? Doing away with Gerry's region 4 and giving West TN 3 regions to work with would cut the travel down in 4A tremendously.

Well because were closer to Livingston, DeKalk County. Plus were in central time zone

Chattanooga is also in the eastern time zone. I don't see the need in Gerry's region 4. Those teams could keep doing what they are doing (go to Chatt., Knoxville or Nashville, and it would keep West TN from being in an unfair 10/5 split.
