Man football4doc you're just not cool enough or in touch enough to be "down" with us these "dayz." It's not a "Playa Hatta" - it's a "Hayta" - You are a "playa hayta" not a playa hatta. Get with it man and if you're not stooping down to 15 year old games then why do you keep responding? I'll be the first to admit that this is childish (it's just that i don't care) - oh, and if you are a coach then you can admit what school you're from. Nobody on this side is doin any hatin. It's all on your side - I've got love for all my 4A brothers that "keep it real" cause i'm housin'

hey, maryville haters, how low you will feel in 2005 after maryville wins its 7th state championship in 8 years. oh, i'm not being dramatic; you should see their underclassmen (8th - 11th). last year their 8th grade team beat rhea co's undefeated 8th graders 70-14 in the season's final game. :D

TruRebelPlaya, in no way do I believe that Maryville has stolen ANY of Brentwood Academy's "thunder." If by thunder you mean media attention, then I would dispute that. At the high school level, media attention is extremely localized. Maryville receives little recognition in Middle Tennessee, and BA garners little attention from media in East Tennessee. If by thunder you mean respect from other teams, then both teams have earned their fair share, and are viewed as outstanding ball clubs by every team that has a brain. BA has been to 3 consecutive state titles and 5 in the last 7 years, while Maryville has won 2 straight and is attempting their third.

Both teams are darn good. But "stealing" a team's "thunder" only applies in the College or Pro levels, where media attention is more significant. Brentwood Academy is at least in the top 2 in D2, while Maryville is at least in 4A's top 8. Let's leave it at that until further games unfold.

What does someone form Cumberland Co. High school no about Maryville? How do get that they are too cocky. I have noticed unlike other schools Maryville players have not come on here and post, that says something about the level of respect they have. And why would you say that Maryville is top 8 in 4A??? They are #1, and until defeated will stay there.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
