Don't forget Ricky Kirkland at receiver, he was a burner and he and Helton made a lot of defenses pay when they focused on trying to stop Bayless. Not sure, but I was thinking Courtland Styles (QB) came along a little later?? At any rate that was one of the most explosive offenses i have ever seen. Helton was a great high school QB but he was a pretty good safety as well.

No Courtland was on the 90 91 Central teams. If i remember correctly Kirkland shared time@ RB with Bayless. Lots of time has elapsed since then though. Yes Helton was an awesome Safety. Him and Billy King were a great tandem. One of the greatest collisions I've ever seen was Shawn Summers and King meeting head on at the goal line. Like 2 trucks colliding.

One of these two wins and waltzes into the finals. I don't see MoWest or South Doyle having anything to beat the Admirals or the Owls.

More than likely not, but you never know. I watched SD on TV last week and they have a RB that's as quick as anybody I have seen this year, including our lil RB Graham. Not saying they will even beat Mo West, but they're peaking at the right time. Clark Duncan is a really good Coach. Whoever plays them between Da Owls (as PA says) or Gutts will have to play a darn good game to beat 'em. They have to get by West first though obviously.

IT'S DEM OWLS AND DA GUTTS. WE HAVE PLAYOFF HISTORY WITH DA GUTTS WHERE WE ARE 2-2.

WE WON IN 2006 AND 2008 WHICH WERE THE YEARS WE WENT TO THE SEMIS.I HAVE BEEN DOING MY HOMEWORK ON ALL THE TEAMS LEFT AND THEY ALL HAVE A PASSING AND RUNNING GAME WITH MO WEST MORE OF A RUNNING TEAM.

HEY I DONT SEE ANY TEAM STANDING OUT OVER ALL TEAMS LEFT EVENTHO INDYNATION CLAIMS THAT THEY ARE THE CHAMPS ALREADY. BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE THESE DAYS.

#LOP GO OWLS!

Courtland was a TE/WR RC.

Yeah I do remember him being on those 90 and 91 teams. If I remember correctly, when Rhea County lost to Central in the 90 quaterfinals Kirkland played some WR and I think a kid named Mills was backing up Bayless at RB. We really had a hard time with their speed as most teams did.

Who was the really good mobil QB Central had in the mid to late 90's before Zach Helton? I was thinking his last name was Styles but like you said that was a long time ago. Lol

Hmmm. Only player I remember back then besides Zach was Cassen Jackson-Garrison. We stopped playing Central in the regular season after 95 for awhile I think.

    • Hope the catcher on baseball team come back out and play's football . He didn't play last year if I remember but I don't remember much after that wreck anyways.. But he did play his freshman and soph years and I thought was a very good player. He's put on some size now, so I'm hoping he's thinking about playing again..
    • Pirates are young this year.  Gordy can sleep on them.
    • They’ll get it worked out eventually.Farragut is too good of a program to be down for long. As an OR fan, I can’t really say I’m too distraught about it though.
    • I didn’t even see that until you said something, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Yes, the coaches can’t get along with each other. But I don’t think they’re openly taking shots at each other right in front of the parents. If they are, that’s pitiful though, that’s really pitiful. I sure hope they’re not, but yeah, I’ve heard the same thing from players over at Farragut getting fed up, and I feel as though what the coaching staff has been trying to keep under the prying eyes of the parents is now out on full display.
    • and there is definitely a reason for that—more than just Catholic recruiting.
