Short write-up on MBA-Henry County scrimmage available here.

Thanks for that! I knew that it was going to be a difficult or near impossible task to beat MBA they are consistently one of the best teams in the state year in and year out. That being said I think HC played decent. Sounds like we had a TD from our offense and defense. My main concern this year is our defense, we have to slow the big plays. Offense should be pretty good. Also in my opinion we probably won't face a team like MBA all year. I believe we will be fine and should be a good year. Go Big Red!!!

I agree. Our offense looks to be better this year than it has been in the past couple years. I'm glad to hear that the offense produced something against MBA. I know it's a few weeks early but Beech in my opinion will be the biggest test for the regular season

Been studying Haywood for a while and they will surprise some people. I expect that game to be a super close game. Don't forget Liberty either they got 3 in a row on us. After the first two games it will tell us a lot. If we can go 2-0 look out. Could be a special season!

Haywood has a lot of returning young talent and I can see them being ONE of those rising teams in West, TN teams under Hookfin. Looking forward to a different opponent as an opener. Liberty has been our opener for what? A decade? If our defense steps it up I believe it can be a special season. I'm just glad football season is back.

I'm actually intrigued to see us play Dresden this up coming jamboree

The Dresden game may be a blowout. They lost a lot and I think it will be hard for them to stop our offense. I believe we play 2 quarters and if that's the case I believe we put up around 30 points or so

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
